Very rarely do we find the journey and the destination uniquely beautiful. The drive to this beautiful temple was an absolute pleasure. The temple is small, peaceful, and active. It is the only ancient Hindu temple in Goa that remained free from foreign invasions. It is a 13th century old, Kadamba style structure that sits calmly in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. I would definitely recommend travellers to visit this divine place.

P.S. Please respect the ecosystem of the forest. Please carry your own water and refreshments if possible since the temple is situated in a remote location. There are a couple of vendors outside selling lemonades but the use of plastic is such that either the locals or the authorities have failed to discard them properly. PLEASE DO NOT LITTER.

Our ancient temple has been well kept and preserved. Invasions and invaders were not able to harm it. It is untouched and in its purest form. It makes you proud how glorious is our dharma . Har Har Mahadev 🙏

The historic temple stood magnificently in its well kept grounds. However the surrounding area and river trails were drowning in litter. On going down to the river's edge, the bank was covered in litter and 'soft stones'. Very unhygienic and not suitable for children.
The fast food outlet had litter piling up, and the monkeys sifted through the pile of rubbish.

It is about 20 Kms from Mollem Checkpost - sign board is there before the petrol bunk if you are going from Panjim.
Small temple, neat and tidy. River flowing by and you can have a dip in the river No restaurants near by - nearest at Mollem.
Ancient temple with good surroundings. You can spend about 1 hr.

It's a bit of a journey unless you are on a tour but this tiny temples is worth a visit because it will get you away from the bustle of the beaches and towns and into the countryside where you will realize this is why this temple survived the Muslim and Christian invasions...

We visited the temple in the Molem Wildlife Sanctuary while on a birding trip. The temple survived the Goan Portuguese inquisition because of its remoteness. It is a moving experience to see its simplicity and reflect on its place in the history of the area. A sign at the entrance to the grounds provides a good discussion of the architecture.

If you want to see Goa beyond the routine beaches , Tambdi Surla temple is the place to go. Away from the crowds and in the peaceful forest with the sound of river and chirping of birds it is a really beautiful temple with well kept grounds.
About 1.5 hours from the airport. You can have a nice sight seeing cum lunch break at Spice garden on the way with Goan food. The temple is small but nice

Little less known parts of goa are the temples and jungles . Almost near Karnataka border , inside dense forest almost like middle of nowhere is this architecture marvel of shiva temple.
Built in 13th century , it is a surprise that it survived Portuguese invasion.
But probably being in dense forest was its advantage .
There is beautiful waterfall an hours trekking needed for same . We were not equipped to go there , as had no proper foot wear . And we only could manage to dip feet in river flowing before the temple premise starts . But it was so cool and clean .
If you want to explore something different in goa apart from beaches , go visit this serene shrine of shiva .
