We drove up from slatine, parked at the top and walked down. It looked pretty empty & we took snorkels etc with us but when we walked all the way down to the rocks by the sea it was full of Croatian children fishing and we couldn’t stay there to enjoy it.
I’m not complaining, it’s their beauty spot just pointing out that you might not be alone!

This is one untouched nature beauty! With church I think built somewhere in beginning of 16 century. Also you have a really interesting legend about how was it build. You have open view on open See and Island Šolta. Most beautiful place I ever seen.

I am coming Here every year. Beautiful, peaceful, quiet placa for me and my family. Natural path leads to it. When you come it is Like in a fairytail. There is little stone church standing on rocks beneath wide, blue, open sea. ❤️

I traveled across Ciovo Island today (Sunday), with my wife, two little boys (4 & 3) and baby daughter, after a tip from the owner of the apartment we're staying in. He said we'd find the beautiful little church built into the rock and a stunning swimming spot off the rocks.

The drive took about 5 mins beyond Slatine village up the mountain and then, after parking the car, another 5-10 mins walk. Apart from the sound of cicadas, the setting is idyllically peaceful and on the short walk we spotted crickets, cicadas, lizards, butterflies and a few wasps.

The walk was easy with our little ones, although our baby daughter was in a baby all sling on my back as it was not suitable for the buggy. Parking was very limited and, while there is some right down by the steps to the church, there were no spaces and I ended up reversing all the way back up the hill, as a 3-point turn was not possible. However, there were plenty of spaces at the top.

The church itself was shut, but the views from the north of the island and setting of the church were breathtaking. Our daughter needed feeding so we stopped under the shade of the tree at the foot of the church, but this was short-lived, as we suffered an onslaught from some vicious biting insects... A dozen bites later and we sheltered in the church grounds, which were shady and cool to finish off the feed. So, don't be tempted to linger under that tree and just get up to the church as there is plenty of shade and cool marble for a respite.

The part we missed out on was the swimming... If you're with older children, or as a couple, take your swimming gear as the water is just about as inviting as it gets!!

All in all a very worthwhile trip, especially if you're looking to escape the crowds, and one I urge you to take if you're staying in the area. We took a car, but many couples were walking there and back, even in 32C heat!!

Gospa od Prizidnice is small church located on the south side of the Ciovo island, with magnificent view, very peaceful place and nice architecture. Close to the church is good view point on City of Split. You can reach this church by car, bike or by foot.

After the ride across the island of Čiovo among olive trees, we reach the abandoned monastery Gospe of Prizidnice, at the most beautiful place of the island and on the cleanest side of the island!
Perfect spot for romantic sunset one of the most beautiful in my life !!!
We rented the scooters from local agency www.alfa-renta.com.
Monastery is 15km from city of Trogir so you need some kinda of transport to get there.
Perfect spot for swimming in turquoise blue adriatic sea.
Scooters are the perfect option for this kinda of trip.

My wife and I were exploring the island on our bikes and almost didn't go to the end of the road but when we finally made it we had made a major score. Fospa od Prizidnice or Sanctuary of our Lady Prizidnice is a beautiful little church tucked on the side of a cliff above the sea.

During our visit on a Sunday afternoon there was a worship service going on, the place where candles were lit was quite amazing, there was a well which we drank from with no problems, and basically it was a very peaceful place to hang out for an hour or two.

You could probably walk from the beach from Slatine, although I imagine this would be quite a trek on a hot day. We drove (follow brown signs up to the church) and there is parking at the top. Walk 5-10 minutes down the hill and you reach the church, we didn't actually go in but carried on walking and you reach some large rocks where you can sit and spend some time pondering and appreciating some fantastic views of the coast. It probably helped that it was a clear, sunny day.

We did not quite make it to the church, that will have to be for another time. But we did walk from Slatine along the coast, then when the road forked followed the signs for the church up the hill. Instead og going to the church, we followed the road to the top of the promontory, about 5 km each way. Was quite hot (despite being April) but very busy. It was lovely. From Slatine we took a bus back to Trogir (very few a day in April, and watch out for the timetables on the bus stops, which maybe out of date - get them on the internet!)

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Prizidnica is an ancient shrine dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary located on the south side of Ciovo Island, in Prizidnica, among the steep cliffs above the blue sea. Also, the wilderness nature around truly make this Sanctuary impressive. You'll have beautiful views all the way until here. The road is easy, nice, quiet and well kept. You'll have a lot of awesome photo ops. The final part of the road to the Sanctuary is a trail (with good maintenance, nice, clean and easy). The place itself is small but charming indeed. It's very quiet. Great for nature lovers and peace seekers. Be aware, there is not any shop or supermarket nearby, so you must get water (among other things) before you arrive here. So, be prepared. The intercessions of Our Lady of Prizidnice were particularly asked by sailors wishing returning safe and healthy to their homes and families.Still today, the attachment of Christian people to Our Lady of Prizidnica is very deep. The pilgrimage to the shrine happens four times a year. The Sanctuary is situated in a beautiful natural surroundings. You can come walking, by car or boat.Truly Worth it! Highly recommended!
