A lucky find!
May 2021
What a wonderful find!
Only open for a short time throughout the year we visited when the rhododendrons and azaleas were in full bloom. Whilst there are refreshment opportunities and a small selection of plants for sale the jewel in the crown has to be the wonderful gardens and beautiful house. As a keen gardener one cannot be anything but impressed to see the culmination and foresight that has gone into this estate with special emphasis on the rhododendron walk along with the water garden. Well worth a visit at this time of the year.

Pretty garden in season
May 2021
The garedn cosists of 2 parts - a fair walk apart. The main garden around the house conatins extensive lawned areas with a good variety of shrubs, trees and plants. The wooded part of the garden with the rhododendrons, azelias and camellias along with the ponds are some distance away and not worth visiting if these are not in bloom. Even when we visited in early May this year few were in bloom because of the cold season. Good value for money overall though

Don't miss this garden
May 2021 • Couples
Superb as usual, azaleas, magnolias and rhododendrons all looking lovely. Don't miss the water garden it is somewhere quite different to the garden near the house but can be a little boggy underfoot in places. Cafe serving drinks and cakes outside with plenty of seating in the garden. Toilets nearby.

Lovely gardens to view
May 2019 • Couples
A lovely series of gardens to walk around and to see so many azaleas and rhododendrons in one place. Various charities use the gardens for fund raising and on the day we visited it was the Red Cross. They organised the hot drinks and cakes etc and it was very well done, catering for many people all at the same time - and used suggested prices.
The gardens were well worth the walks, in particular the short walk to the water gardens.
Very good value for money and well worth the trip.

Lodge no complaints
May 2019 • Couples
Friends told us about this, saying we'd probably missed it at its best. Basically, these gardens are acidic favouring azaleas and rhodedendrons, they are at their peak in early May but were still stunning when we visited towards the end of May. Close to Melton Constable, you will have to make some effort to find them, especially the car park and entrance. You should also take care to refer to their website because opening times are erratic. Well worth it, the grounds are just majestic and a riot of colour as you should see from the pics. It's on our calendar from now on. If you chance on a charity day there will be cake!

Stunning Gardens and a beautiful place to visit.
Apr 2019 • Couples
The Azaleas were stunning particularly in the" long walk". The gardens are well laid out with mainly flat footpaths with seating at appropriate points. We walked to the Water Gardens through the woods where the ground is a bit uneven but they are accessible down the road. Again the Azaleas were well worth the walk. The Rhododendrons were just budding and will be spectacular in a couple of weeks. There was a refreshment area in aid of a local charity with Home Made cakes and beverages. This was well worth the £7. entry fee.

yearly visit during the one month that the gardens are open to the public

Absolutely beautiful gardens. A real delight to walk around. An immense grouping of floral colours. A tea room and home made cakes managed by volunteers.

Incredible

Hard to believe this is in our doorstep. It’s absolutely beautiful. We happened to go on a day where they were raising money for the Benjamin foundation so we had delicious cake too!

Really beautiful piece of heaven!
May 2018
We had been here several times before in the past, but the new layout and gardens are just amazing. The flowers and water gardens are just stunning. A shame they are only open for such a little time during the year, but a little treasure well worth the visit. The tea tent was a nice treat, with lovely home baked cakes. I am sure we will be visiting again next year. Just as an aside, it could be difficult walking with a frame, walker or pushchair round by the lake, the paths are quite wobbly, and I think in the wet they would be quite difficult to negotiate.
