Visby is pretty small, so you can run out of things to do fairly quickly. This is a neat museum, however the $15 entry seems a bit steep. Neat museum that is worth the time. Recommended!

We took a guided tour of the exhibitions with a great Gotland native guide, and continued on our own for an hour or two. Don't miss the cellar, which goes all the way down to the water level, for a real feeling of going back...More

Nice little museum. Lots of medieval artefacts and some well illustrated periods of history on a fascinating island. Possibly lacking the wow factor for today's young kids. But lots of stories of blood and gore from Viking days for those that way inclined.

Make this your first stop in Visby. Great overview of Gotland's history. The picture stones were especially interesting to see.

This is a real gem in Visby. We thoroughly enjoyed all the exhibit halls and I particularly liked the stories relating to people of Visby from various times. The treasures are amazing in themselves and displayed in a very viewer friendly way. Make sure you...More

We are avid museum goers and had never seen picture stones before. Some were stunning. The museum is beautifully organized and things are well displayed. It's a small museum but well worth a visit.

You might walk past this museum without even noticing it's there. A gem, crammed with interesting artefacts and 'history' , obviously. Might be useful to brush up on your Swedish as there isn't much by way of translation.

A comprehensive history lesson from stone age and forward. Communicating the rich history and life at Gotland through its inhabitants. Gotland has the highest per capita density of treasures in the world. An impressive history, well exhibited!

I spent two happy hours in this well laid out and fascinating museum. I was pleased to see that they have a children's room also. There is a good shop on the entrance floor and the staff were very helpful. I would recommend a visit

I took a bus from Stockholm to Nynäshamn and took a ferry to Visby. I know there are some flights that go to the island but it is cheaper to go by bus and ferry, though it does take longer.
