With some free time in the afternoon, I headed for Gotlands Museum and was very pleasantly surprised at what I found. I could have stayed for a couple of hours but sadly had to cut my visit short to meet some friends. There is a...More

This differs in a good way from too many other local museums. There is a focus to the exhibits that are well presented from the axe shaped gravestones to the medieval past etc

This is a charming and very interesting museum and well worth a visit. We only had a morning as we were off a small ship with a guided tour. Our guide was very good. The picture stones were fascinating. There is a lot to see...More

The section at the beginning with the rune-stones was my favourite, but this history museum is really impressive on every level. Definitely a must see, whether you are just an adult or even if you have children with you (beware, there are real skeletons inside)....More

This building is deceptive. Once inside it is like an Alladin's cave going up and down and round and round. From the deep cold medieval cellar to the spacious farmhouse kitchen with so much in between. An interesting insight to life on Gotland over the...More

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but has much look at inside. The guided tours are excellent. The cafe isn't bad either, although the layout of counters and food doesn't help the staff or customers, there isn't a natural flow.

Perfekt with an app to download for guidning. Interesting to see how it was and how Wisby developed over the time. I like the rooms with was showing a scene from the past.

The museum seems to be adapted to either families with very small children (lots of things to play with including a full play-room), or people with very deep historical interests. We visited with two teenagers and a moderate historical interest and this was not a...More

While the guide we had definitely made the experience come alive, the museum itself was well worth the visit. Very modern and well laid out, the museum made the history of Gotland very real.

This small museum gives an excellent overview of the history of the city and its past. From Viking rune stones to medieval Visby and the famous hoards of gold and silver. All are well presented with a surprising number of Arabic coins showing the depth...More

I took a bus from Stockholm to Nynäshamn and took a ferry to Visby. I know there are some flights that go to the island but it is cheaper to go by bus and ferry, though it does take longer.
