There are a lot of waterfalls in the world, some a lot larger and more voluminous, but for sheer setting and beauty, this is my go-to place when people visiting me want to see something of a secret jewel.
There is now a steel and glass viewing pavilion at the head of the falls, and if you aren't a vertigo sufferer, you can walk down the steep flanks of steps to the river bed. The steps are closed during very heavy rain but the view from the top is still open. The road to the falls runs along the Hantan River and passes endless beautiful rice paddies and is worth the journey itself.
A lot of people stop off on the way to or from to but grapes at the numerous grape farms on the way. This area is also famous for its prehistoric fossil finds and there is a Prehistory Museum in nearby Yeoncheon
