Beautiful national park, with a lot of waterfalls and places for swimming. 300 THB/person. Ticket includes entrance to the 2 caves located 7km far from the park. The transportation to the caves is extra charged (800 THB/person for the kayak or 800 THB /1 longtail boat. Caves are definietly worth visting.

The nature - mangroves, caves, jungles - is wonderful. We came there to hire a kayak, as many guides and reviews suggested it is possible and also for a very low price. In reality, all 3 piers serve tour agencies and independent travelers are not welcomed now. On the left pier we were able to hire a kayak for 400 batt per person, including a child. They claimed, cave admission is included, but they give us no tickets. So, we needed to pay another 200 batt per person for park admission to visit the nature trail later. Also, it was difficult to land at the cave, as tours go one after another, and we were even pushed away.
Still, we were rewarded by enjoying paddling away of traffic. You are along in mangroves, it is calm and wild, coming low tide makes you a bit anxious (although groups went even after us, when tide was really really low). We visited Pee Hua Toh Cave when most of groups went to lunch and it was not too crowded. Also, we went forward and back through Tham Lod Nau, a long tunnel with stalagmites and stalactites, absolutely alone – WOW, you need to do this to understand our feelings. You need to watch were groups are going to find the pass. And in low tide watch for the gate at the turn to the tunnel, because the place becomes shallow. Unfortunately, we went kayaking in the noon, and didn’t see the wild life – too hot for this. If you go there by car from Ao Nang / Klong Muang, first follow the signs to Phuket, and then to Pee Hua Toh Cave (no Bor Thor signs).
Then we went to Than Bok Khorani headquarter and after a quick lunch walked along the passes. We saw wild monkeys, swam in the stream and enjoyed jungles and sounds there. That is what we dreamed of for a long time, and it was really worth the dream. Nature trail was one of the most pleasant experiences in Krabi.

We are a family of 5 and visited Than Bok Khorani National Park at August 2014 (rainy season). We stopped for a brake after 1 hour drive from Krabi
Pros:
- Beautiful place
- Nice nature pools where you can swim
- Short walk in a jungle
- Good for a families with small children
- Good for a brake (on the way between Krabi - Phuket), there is a local food court
- Clean toilette
- My spouse really liked it
- Up to 2 hours visit
Cons:
- Doesn't worth a special visit, can be combined as part of other activities
IMPORTANT !!!
There is no kayaking at all as I read at other reviews

I went with friends on a one day kayaking tour package at Ban Bor Thor.
The good: The scenery was nice, huge limestone karsts at first sight. The mangroves are quiet and serene and make for easy paddling with no waves, although certain areas near the caves can get a bit tricky. There's the option of having a local paddle the kayak for you on a three seater as you enjoy the view lazily. The stalactites and stalagmites are quite marvellous, but after a while they get monotonous. Tham Pee Hua Toh is an interesting cave with several ancient paintings and a seashell floor and you'll need to walk a bit inside it.
The bad: Toilet facilities were poor, but it is to be expected of such an area. Long waiting times: We sat around for quite a while waiting for groups of caucasian and korean tourists to be loaded up onto their kayaks. Not sure if this is the norm. Lunch portions and dishes were small, although they were generous with the rice. Mozzies were aplenty throughout the mangroves, but this seems to be an issue with the whole of Krabi. The guides speak understandable English, but they don't seem to have much to say about the actual mangroves themselves and half the time we just travelled along the swamps not really knowing which cave was which. I guess you could ask them the names but we got lazy.
Some parts were a little underwhelming. I hail from a tropical country with mangroves too and when the guides stopped us at a muddy area and gave us a shallow explanation of: "Those are mudskippers, amphibious fish", I was very disappointed as I expected more information, although I can see how it might be an eyeopener to folk never exposed to the tropics.
They also told us they would bring us to a lagoon, and I was expecting some mysterious emerald bay exposed to the sea, but we kayaked through a winding cave they called the Serpent Cave into a small area enclosed with huge limestone features in swampy scummy water and they told us that we would wait there for ten minutes which was a little sad.
My overall impression of the Ban Bor Thor caves is a peaceful serene mangrove forest beautiful in its own right, but overhyped and being beaten into the shape of a major tourist attraction by the local tourism industry.

Than Bok Khorani National Park is not far from the middle of Ao Leuk, Krabi (48km from Krabi Town). It's a beautiful national park with a variety of attractions including walking trails, waterfalls and lots of places where you can swim. It's a great place for a relaxed day out and a picnic. It's not really on the tourist map (I haven't seen any other Caucasians there when I've been), but you can get tours to there from Ao Nang and Krabi Town, or organise your own transport. It is definitely worth a look and there's plenty of other things to see around Ao Leuk including mangrove forests, caves with prehistoric paintings, islands, snorkelling and kayaking.

Bor Thor is a aqua-culture district within the Than Bok Khorani National Park.
I went there on my own in November 2011 and discovered 2 caves,
namely Lod Cave where you can kayak through the water passage way in the cavern;
and Pee Hua Toh Cave where you need to walk and climb to check out the big cave which has some pre-historic cave drawings.

This is a small wonderful national park with rain forest, creek with lot of small emerald waterfalls and small pools . This park is located one hour from krabi toward Khao lak.
Entrance fee is 300 baht per adult.
The amazing thinks in our visit was that we were alone (only after an hour we saw other 3 visitors and also one snake..)- we had the whole park for our self !. This is great place for swimming and relaxing -lot of small pools . There are also some small limestone caves and small temple dedicated to friendly tiger. Near the nice and small visitor center at the enterence there are some cheap restaurants with drinks and good rice dishes.
I am not sure if it is always so quiet and empty but for me and my wife it was great place to spent few hours.

I was in Krabitown, I went to a local cave that had some fake cave paintings and some documentation how they were modeled after actual cave paintings nearby. After searching the internet I found that there were actual paintings in Tham Phi Hua To (Big head ghost cave) in Than Bok Khorani National Park.
I was staying about 60km away in Ao Nang and rode a motorbike up to the Bo Tho Pier in Au Luek. From there, I rented a long tail boat for 600 baht. The driver took us first to Tham Lot ถ้ำลอด a cave that has a river run through it. (This is not the Tham Lot in the north, sometimes this is differentiated as Tham Lot Tai, where Tai means south in Thai). He warned us in advance that he might not be able to go in because the tide was high. However, he managed even though the bow of the boat was higher than some of the stalactites were hanging down. He went through it completely, and turned around and came back.
A very short distance away, he brought us to Tham Phi Hua To ถ้ำผีหัวโต. This is the cave that has about 70 paintings inside dating from about 3000 years ago. When we got there, there was a group of about 20 waiting to leave, but no one was in the cave during our stay. It was really nice and am glad I discovered it after going to Krabi more than ten times
Note there is a guy collecting fees for tickets, but our driver took care of it for us. Not sure if it was the standard 200 baht foreigner fee or something more like 30 baht.

We booked the kayaking through Siam Smile Travel. The trip included free pick up from our hostel in Krabi, an hour ride to the pier where we were provided with the kayaks, life vests. As all of us in the group were familiar with the kayaking, we set off to the caves without wasting the time.
We visited Khao Wong, cave with a lagoon, Tham Lod Nau, a tunnel with stalagmites and stalagtites, Tham Lod Tai, long cave passage with the formation resembling a nymph and Tham Pee Hua Toh, large cave with many prehistoric drawings.
The trip was very nice, we enjoyed exploring the nice caves and coves, saw monkeys, king fisher and large crabs. The whole area has a nice setting of mangroves and large limestone.
After the kayaking we were provided with a lunch and then driven for a short time bathing in Phuthara lagoon.
This area is very popular and beside our group, there were at least 4-5 other groups.

I am traveling on my own but all the bookings say full when I try and book. I am okay with paying a bit extra to have someone as a paddle guild so I can take photos. But not a full fair for two people. Please advise how I can book for just myself.

Hey, is it suitable for a wheelchair user? Thanks
Written April 24, 2018
Not very as it requires a lot of movement in non friendly terrain.
I think the user would have to wait at the pier unless there was a side road to some places but even at the caves, they don’t seem accessible other than by kayak.
