Our son and a friend booked a few courses over the summer (we did 3 and they did 2). The courses were good although they do sometimes change teachers mid course so be prepared. We then booked a term time course which we paid for in full straight after the last course. The man who took the payment didn't book us on the system and we then spent the next 5 days chasing the office up to get confirmation of our booking - despite 3 emails, 2 phone calls (paid on Friday, called office on Saturday, promised a reply on the Bank Holiday Monday but nothing came through on Monday, or Tuesday and after several calls when no one picked up, finally got through to the office on Wed). The office staff do their best but they are very short staffed so sometimes no one picks up the phone and you end up phoning several times to get through. Despite this, the instructors are good, the venue is great, and my son loves the hot lunches. You have to bear with the system but it is incredibly frustrating sometimes, having paid and not knowing if you've really got booked on the course.

The thought of sailing in what i used to call a puddle used to fill me with dread...not any more. The facilities and staff at the Queen Mary Sailing club are amazing and this, combined with a huge piece of water to sail on so close to Londons Heathrow Airport and M25 ring road, has changed my mind about sailing on non-tidal waters for ever.

I liked the club facilities and the large expanse of water which is more than a mile across. All this so near to London, within the M25. When the sun comes out it feels even better.

My wife and I did the dinghy taster session and it was awful and a waste of time and money. Ok they can't be blamed for the weather, but because it was too windy, rather than cancel the session, they insisted on taking each of us out for 5 minutes in a too small dinghy with the instructor. Almost two hours sitting around in the cold for the experience of sitting for five minutes with a wet bum while someone else sales is not my idea of fun - I could have sat in a tin bath in our garden with an inch pf cold water in the bottom for that experience! As I said they can't be blamed for the poor weather but they can be for their poor response. Hell this is the UK you'd think that they would be used to poor weather.
