The Royal Hospital of the Immaculate Conception is as some other interesting buildings, located on the “Plaza del Cristo”, you can park in front of it and start visiting. Also the “Tourist Information Office” is into this building, the Real Hospital was built at the request of Doña Maria de Aragón, the first wife of King Juan II in 1443. As a hospital, it housed poor and sick homeless. It was built with the income from the sale of two previous hospitals that did not fulfil their function correctly. It has being closed into the year 1943 and was reopened about 10 years later and became a soup kitchen for poor children. Doing so the restoration process started into the 80s. And so it got declared as an artistic monument on February 23, 1983.
