With just a few emails, I was able to set up a tour for my family of 4. We were visiting my daughter, who is studying in Salamanca. The tour was absolutely amazing, and we learned so much about the wine making process. You get to tour the vineyard and learn about the history of the the company as well as the vines, and all about the different types of land the vineyard is on. She explains the growing/harvesting/pruning process, too. Then we went back into the winery to see how they make their wines, from the moment they press the grapes all the way to the bottling process. Next, we went to the tasting room, and that was a complete revelation to us! It wasn’t just a quick pour-and-sip thing. She took us on a journey through each wine, helping us to pull out the aromas and flavors bit by bit, and explaining how each complemented each part of a meal. It was truly amazing! I have never considered myself a Rosé fan, but the one we tried was phenomenal. Needless to say, we took a few home😍 Finally, we tried their olive oil, which was just as wonderful as their wines, as we bought that, as well. And to top it all off, the room has a gorgeous view of the vineyards surrounding the winery.
Logistics are often the most difficult part of any trip. MariCarmen gave us all the necessary nformation on how to get there, and even sent a google map for us to show the taxi driver, who just needed to know where outside of Rueda it was (once you get into Rueda, there are winery signs everywhere; it’s part of a Wine Route in that region). If you don’t have a car, you can either take a bus and then a taxi, or a train and then a taxi; the bus schedules were better for us.
I highly recommend this tour. She imbued each moment with a desire to share her love for her profession and the vineyard. The love for what they do and the intimacy of the experience (the tour was just for the 4 of us) was what made this such a special tour.

My father and I visited the winery in May. They were very quick to email back in regards to a reservation and were willing to change the time of the English tour to an earlier time. Little did we know when we arrived that it would be a private tour with just my dad and I. Our tour guide was very informative. We had an indepth tour of the facilities and practices. They we had a great wine tasting over looking the vineyard. The wines were all white but so delicious! Oh and the olive oil was fabulous as well. If we would have had more time we would have visited the mill as well.

We travelled all the way from Toronto, Canada with a wish to explore a Rueda winery. We emailed many wineries and got responses from some, including Valdecuevas. What first drew my attention to this winery is the detailed message we received from Mari Carmen about the winery and what the tour would entail. She was very transparent, friendly and professional. She even adjusted her opening time to accommodate us. I mean, what more could we ask for??!
When we arrived, she greeted us cordially and we started the tour. We were the only two there which was a great bonus! Maybe that's because we came at an off peak time. Thank you Mari Carmen for hosting us so graciously!
Mari Carmen was very knowlegable and patient when we asked questions. She answered all questions skillfully and in detail. She spoke English really well, too.
The winery is very modern, not too large and beautiful. From the wine tasting room, you will have a beautiful open view of the vines. We tried all the wines and we definitely took several home. They also have an olive farm nearby which we planned to go to but the timing didn't work out. We did buy their olive oil from the winery and it's divine; all you have to do is look at its colour to know!
I would recommend this winery to anyone looking for a more personal, yet beautiful experience!
Thank you for everything, Mari Carmen!
Best wishes,
Sonia and Igor
