Its an amazing palatial home and takes you back in time ..We were showed around by Andre the grandson and he was so eager to share all information about the history of the place. There are antiques dating many centuries. The Ballroom and those corridors are so enchanting and mesmerizing. Must visit place.

A peek into the Portuguese times in the house of a rich Indian landlord.
The Portuguese era house and its antique furniture and crockeries are worth a look for all visitors. Goa is not just about beaches, drinks and food. The 500 year old history of its occupation is also worth learning about. Keep about an hour and a half to see and appreciate all the items on display.

If you land there, it is worth your time.
We visited this house may be about 20 years ago. At that time there were no fees. At the end of the tour you could voluntarily drop contributions in a box placed for the purpose. A brown Goan lady in Western attire was sitting at the entrance cum exit. Although the building and interior are in Portuguese style, the building belongs to a family of Goan converts. So it should be called Goan House. It has two parts that were inherited by two brothers. One brother neglected his part while the other, being more dynamic and resourceful, developed and embellished his part to make it a beautiful Portuguese style house. A lot of colonial furniture, kitchenware, crockery and wall pieces and several works of art decorate the house. A ride from the hotel of may be an hour or an hour and a half gives the visitor a looksee at then Goan countryside and villages. The past several generations of the Braganza family deserve kudos for maintaining this piece of Portuguese influence on Goa's Konkani Catholic society.

This old house is a homage to old Goa. Don’t be confused by the adjoining house which is a different house. Originally built by two brothers however the two family’s don’t seem to share the same vision. Me exes Braganza is definitely the better example of the period. The home is filled with amazing antiques and artefacts from a bygone era.

A huge 17th century Portuguese style mansion filled with antique furniture, relics and historical artifacts. It is known to be more than 400 years old. Breaganza Pereira was representing Goa under the Portuguese government as the vice consul general in Spain. He was gifted the land by the king of Portugal., Don Luiz.

The arrogance of the “owner” is something difficult to describe. For earning ₹250 per person which is no different from “begging”, she chooses to talk in her own roughshod mannerless fashion. Best to avoid since there is nothing of value there except dilapidated building spruced up to earn the money. Shameless in every respect the woman even keeps directing everyone to not open their smartphone to take pics as if her ancestors were maharajas!! Completely avoidable. Do not fall for travel agents or tour drivers who suggest this place. Why would you pay ₹250 to face a display of sheer arrogance and nothing else?

The House is very beautiful and takes you to another era. The house is divided in two parts, hosted and managed by different individuals. Both are equally beautiful. The Ball Room is the highlight. A must visit place in South Goa

When you go up the stairs from the entrance, go to the right side, the Perreira side, the descendant is friendly and allows photos and to touch and sit on furniture. The ballroom is also beautifully restored. He has a wealth of knowledge and knows his history. He also leaves the donation amount up to you. However, dont even bother going to the Menzes side, the left side. The descendant lady is rude, you may not take pictures, touch anything, and the stuff everyone raves about is so so, not well restored at all. The antique books must be fascinating, but untouchable and kind of in a mess and not sorted. She uses her servant to show you around, who has little knowledge and lives in fear of the grumpy old hag. The worst is, when it came to donation time we didnt know it was a 150 rupee per person fee, I only had 200 in total for the two of us. She made me go in search of an ATM to bring another 100 rupee, and my wife had to remain behind as a guarantee that I would return, what a cow ! Good luck to her, I hope there is a next generation that will treat the guests with respect and do a proper restoration.

The place is ok. However be aware of the following -
1) The place is hard to find even in modern GPS. Its horrible from outside & difficult to locate
2) There is no path indicators to the house
3) The owner of the place is some lady who claims to be 9th descendent of the family. She will not tell you about the entry fees to see the place. After every thing is shown, she will put forward a box for donations. She "forces" you to put a min Rs 150/- per person fees (Compare this with the normal fees of Rs 10 or Rs 20 in other beautiful places in Goa)
4) The owner will dramatize everything like "she employs 7 maids to maintain the place (indicating people to donate more)", she will enquire about where you are from & where you stay in goa or what is your profession (to check your capacity to donate). She constantly "cries" about Government apathy towards this (unroyal) mansion thereby indicating you to donate more
5) Also, many things in that house are from china which she claims to be 400 years old. I am sure you will see them (for free) on the streets of Goa or any other place in India.
6) My family of 3 had gone there. But due to some reason 2 of them had to leave after seeing one dark room while I continued. Yet the owner forcefully siphoned Rs 450/- from me. This is a real incident. So beware of this mansion.
You can compare things like Mysore palace or palaces in Rajasthan (where rates & mannerisms are good) against this mansion whose snobbish owner does not even like if someone by mistake touches even the marble of the table top. WARNING ! WARNING !!

This is a must see in Goa. This is an 450 years old house managed by the descendants of two sisters of the Bragenza family. When you are in front of the house from the outside the right one is the "Menzes Bragenza" House. This right hand side (Left hand side when you are inside and climbing a few stairs) is worth a visit as they have a nice collection of heritage antiques dating back to 400 and more years. This part of the house is demonstrated by a nice old lady who is very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. She takes you in a tour down the memory lane, 400 years of history, antiques and stories. Love chairs, palanquins, chandelier, dining hall and table, library, family photographs, twin coconuts, royal beds and bedrooms...the list is endless.

Very Important/Beware:
The other part of the house (Left from outside, Right once inside) contains lesser things to see, is not so well maintained and well demonstrated as compared to the Menzes Bragenza side. Both sides expect some donations as they need it for the maintenance but the lady at Menzes Bragenza side never forced me while on the other side(Left hand side from outside) the man demonstrating forced me(!) to pay Rs 500.00 as he allowed photography. I felt cheated and harassed.

Trust me dear future traveller, from the outside of the house say to yourself, "Right is right! Left should be left" and see it. You will not miss anything. No photography is allowed in the Menzes Bragenza side but is is the side you must see, and experience.

An enormous old colonial house handed down through nine generations, but now dependent on donations to sustain its upkeep as a result of the loss of family lands when Goa lost its independence.
Well worth the visit from Colva or surrounds as there are lots of items collected by the family over the last 450 years, from China, Europe and across India. Fascinating insight into how the wealthy Portuguese colonials lived and how they have now lost their previous gains.
