They absolutely cram people on the small boats. The first four boats (we boarded on the the third one) all had 21 people on them, and the last two had about 14-16, with lots of room to sit. We were crammed so tightly onboard that there was no way to even turn slightly to see the views. On the upside, even though the guide gives the tour in Dutch, they provide a booklet in English so that you know what you are seeing. You just miss the jokes from the personable guide. Our boat came in last because one of the passengers had to reach down to clear weeds that were clogging the motor, which added about a half hour to an already too-long voyage.

I speak Dutch, my wife understands it, so for us it was not a problem, but beware that not all guides/ boatsmen speak another language, that said we really had a great time and a nice tour!. It is very relaxing to be on the water with this silent boat, it brings you to some nice greenspots of Zutphen.... Perfect on a sunny day and even nice on a rainy day like ours. We really enjoyed it and would surely do it again when we are in Zutphen!.

To stroll through Zutphen one can observe many historical buildings. To ad another dimension to what you can see a boat ride through the channels gives another perspective of the city. The trip is done in a so called whisperboat. The electrical motor is silent😀The captain of the boat carrying max 8 persons gives an historical overview of the city as it takes you for the ride. An experience you would not want to miss.

We went on this cruise and the weather was beautiful. The volunteers are full of information and gave us commentary of the sights we passed. We saw old buildings and the many different birds along the way. Very peaceful way to spend an hour or so discovering this very old city. Don't forget to go to the Market Square afterwards for a drink and a snack!
