    Not a great experience
Stayed for one night in the Oak room. It was quirky and a bit dated but that was ok. But the four poster bed was quite hard and the shower, although great pressure, was slow to drain leaving you ankle deep in water. There was quite a bit of noise from the smoking area outside. But the worst part was the breakfast. A full Irish that was pretty inedible and served by a surly waitress who ran off and made us search for our own butter! Had to ask a workman in the end to raid the fridge.

    Value for money
the on-site parking was helpful. We could park, unload, and wander through the town. Hosts helpful in recommending where to eat. First time sleeping in a four poster bed. Good size room. No noise from the pub.

    Great comfortable stay
My daughter and I stayed for 6 nights. The b&b is beside the pub with a separate entrance and breakfast room. And it is very quiet as the rooms are not directly over the pub. Our room (the pine room) had twin beds. Very comfy with nice duvets and great quality linens and towels. Bathroom was older but in good working order. Great full breakfast and the hosts were welcoming and helpful. The place is in a perfect location. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly

If you are looking for a "genuine" pub without all the fakeness you will be in for a treat at Racey Byrnes. We dropped in for a pint on Tuesday 11 February. There was a games room with a pool table and dart board. There's an array of old advertising signs in the courtyard along with stables - the pub and grounds is like Aladins Cave.

We didn't have any food here but the kitchen was spotless and the menu (proper food like ham, cabbage and potatoes) was very reasonably priced - I think it was under 9 euro. The toilets were very clean. The bar staff were very friendly and chatty, not over bearing and seemed to enjoy their job.

I visited with my husband and my 2 nine year old daughters.
Car parking is available at the rear of the pub.

Not great. Had prepaid with an online app or I'd have walked away.
The room wasn't cleaned during my stay, had to ask for clean towels, found a betting slip between the bed and bedside dresser, bathroom was dusty, shower dirty, smell of smoke from the bar when passing to the room and coming up stairs, old acne tube in the bathroom, breakfast was included but I wasn't brave enough to try it. I left a day early.
Really not suitable for a family, I would never stay here again. The best thing about this stay was finding the bar next door (teach dolmin), the food was perfect, good beers, excellent service, friendly staff, clean and very well run.

This premises is scruffy and hasn’t seen soap and water for a while!
Will not be returning !
What more can one say about a place that is so uncomfortable and not clean and the owner seems quite happy to operate at a level of clean that is well below accepted norms!
Maybe use the lock down to do a major clean up!

Popped in to celebrate a friend's birthday. They are a friendly bunch and the pub had that querky feel that seems to come from old Irish pubs. The back room was filled with all sorts of peculiar objet d'art, dominated by a giant dartboard, look out for the penguins, scuba diver & swinging clown.

The snug bar had lovely warm feeling, like a front room. This leads onto a passageway beside the pub (for smokers) that is decorated with old signs, curious, but interesting.

Had lunch in Racey Byrne's , great value €8 for traditional bacon and cabbage , served with white sauce, carrots , mushy peas and mashed potato , other options available e.g. lasagna, egg mayo, soup sandwiches, roast chicken ... couldn't fault , table service also so no queuing like other places with carvery .. apparently lunch is €7 during week mon to fri ..

This was one of the most charming inns that we stayed at while in Ireland. We were greeted warmly by the owner and invited to have tea while the room was being prepared. There was ample parking in the back amongst the bird and dog pens. The room was clean and comfortable, with lovely antique decor but with fully functioning modern bathroom. Obvious care taken to designing a room with quaint old-time charm. In addition, the full Irish breakfast was delicious! Excellent value for the low price!

It was a busy weekend in Carlow so this was one of last available rooms ... Naturally this was reflected in prices charged !!
There is a dated atmosphere in the B n B generally with an unkempt feel .
On entering our room I ignored stain in ceiling , awkard en suite access and general air of neglect , however the quite comfortable layer of dust made me feel really special.
The bed linen was fresh however I didn't venture to look too much as I was nervous about what I could find .
Breakfast was good mind .

Stayed here with group of friends, sorry but wouldnt recommend it. It is in bad need of an overhaul, worn out carpets , musty smell in bedroom, to be honest never stayed anywhere as bad before. There was even a blow up bed, one of friends opted to sleep on floor than on one of the beds...
