The Niederhorn is the prime seat with view to Eiger, Monch an Jungfrau. The Niederhornbahn brings you by Funicular from Beatenbucht to Beatenberg and by cable-car from Beatenberg up to the Niederhorn.

We took bus #101 from Unterseen to Beatenberg (last stop) then grabbed tickets (expensive 35CHF adults, 18CHF teens) up the 20-min gondola ride to check out the views from Niederhorn. The ride up affords you great views of the mountains, both lakes flanking Interlaken, and...More

This activity takes the better part of a day but it is totally worthwhile. Take some time to tour the little village on the cliff named Mirren and the food at the buffet on the top of Shilthorn was actually pretty good. Take some time...More

Great timings and open even though at low-peak season (albeit fewer days per week). We accessed Niederhorn via Thun train station - bus to Beatenbucht - Funicular to Beatenberg - Cable car to Niederhorn. The cable cars are operated in groups of 3.

Took the cable car from Beatenberg up to the top. A clear day and the views were incredible. We walked around the top. Only wish we had brought hiking boots on our trip as we would have hiked part way down. Go early, less people.

Punctual and functional like most things Swiss. Groups of 3 gondolas that rotate around every 15 minutes or so, takes about 20 minutes to the top.

I am not sure if there will be snow on the Niederhorn itself in May as it very much depends on how quickly the snow melts from the Winter and how warm the Spring is. There is, however, a most beautiful view from the... More
