Memorable is the word that first comes to mind when I think about Glacier 3000. When you reach the top the views are absolutely breathtaking. There were more skiers than pedestrians on the day we’ve visited which was great - we got to see real examples of risk taking on the free ride slopes and I can only admire their courage. I like that they are not trying to make you spend a lot of money. What is included in the ticket price is more than enough to enjoy a day on top of the mountain, breathe some fresh air and be in awe of how beautiful our world is. Everything works smoothly and there are signs that point to all the attractions so it’s easily accessible. The glacier walk is very long and enjoyable. Our meters showed 8km when we returned to the cable car!! Definitely a must!

An absolute must do! The most fantastic views I have ever seen in my life.
It isn’t cheap, but it is worth it.
We did the Golden Pass Train from Montreux to Gstaad, the bus then literally meets you at the train as described - so easy. It is then about 25/30 minutes on the bus to the bottoms of the glacier.
When you get to the top of the glacier (2 very easy cable cars) there is more to do then first realised, we spent a lot longer there than we originally thought we would!
The glacier walk is fab and worth it, it is about 5km there and back. My recommendation would be wear walking boots if possible! The snow is deep and there are puddles of glacier water at points. It is a harder walk than it seems. But the views at the other side are worth it. We went the Refuge l’espace at the end of the Glacier walk and sat outside. Not cheap but stunning views and a good pit stop before the other 2.5km back.
By the time we had done that, the peak walk, a look in the shop and a trip down the alpine coaster we caught the second to last cable car back to the bottom!
Only thing is the buses from the bottom only run every hour towards the end of the day, so we missed the bus by 5/10 minutes so we sat in the restaurant at the bottom and had a drink whilst we waited the hour for the next bus.
It is so worth the trip, it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. My partner has skied a lot in his life and said he’s never seen views like that before either.

Access to glacier 3000 is from the Butterfly Pass below. It is accessible either by hiking or by gondola at a cost of 85 CHF round trip per person. There's a Check-out every 20 minutes.
The gondola stops for the first time at the Cabin where you will have to take a second gondola to get to the glacier. The Award includes the peak walk by Tissot, a metal walkway stretched between two peaks, inaugurated in 2014. The view of the Alpine peaks is breathtaking with, among others (and in good weather, of course) the Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, the Dent Blanche.
From the top, it is possible to descend the summer luge course on rails. Count 9 CHF downhill. Find out about the weather.
A chairlift will take you down the glacier (included in the ticket) and then to the Devil's Key. Allow at least 30 minutes to get there, especially if the ice is soft. There, a breathtaking view of the valley, the surrounding peaks, the lakes and dams below.
Possibility of sledging, free on the side. You can even go down to the small lake from the snowmelt (!). Provide hiking shoes, a fleece jacket if you fear the cold and especially glasses and sunscreen even at 3000 meters altitude!
Welcoming and smiling staff. Allow at least half a day.

I have been coming to the Glacier for many years, and quite frankly the experience this time was extremely disappointing.
First of all, the infrastructure on the slopes is unforgivingly outdated. I understand that there were many people, but it’s unacceptable that the ski lifts are the same as 20 years ago, with limited capacity and unnecessary queues forming up. Instead of working on the restaurant, perhaps it would be better to focus on the skiers.
On a side note, how can it be that one out of the three (not 25) lifts, the Quille, was closed? 33% less capacity on a sunny day with plenty of people is unacceptable!
The ropes thy were set up to get back are also a joke, as it is almost impossible to hang on and your gloves or jacket may get damaged… why not replicate the mini-lift that was set up at the Combe d’Audon?
Then there’s the general level of service, which is abysmal. The people working at the parking lot are incompetent and made me go against a rock with my car! Also, nobody was putting salt on the asphalt, which caused me to suffer a fall I still haven’t recovered from (lucky I didn’t press charges).
Finally, the restaurant… the “emergency” structure that was setup is totally inadequate, it’s unacceptable to have to wait 1 hour standing in line to order food. Why on Earth not doing the renovation during the summer season, when there’s hardly anyone going up?
The slopes are fine, but if you cannot fully take advantage, the whole experience becomes quite poor…

Hello,
Thank you for your comment. We are sorry that your ski day did not go as planned. I'm going to go over a few points.
The renovation of the equipment is part of our many projects. However, in light of recent events at Glacier 3000, some projects are moving forward such as the reconstruction of the Botta restaurant which is scheduled for this spring.
The sun and the good weather are not enough to open the entire ski area. Like the Quille slope that you mentioned, we need a lot of snow to open this slope for safety reasons. If we don't open a slope, it's not that we don't want to, but rather for the safety of our clients.
We thank you for your understanding.

We visited mid December when we purchased our ticket was informed that may close due to high winds but not informed that would be given no refund if did close. So bought tickets (my son's first time skiing I. Switzerland so excited). Took the lift up, as soon as go out all ski slope lifts were shut down by staff due to wind, closed nothing NADA. So we had to return down. On visiting the kiosk were told that no refund, even though we had not even got one chance to ski. If we had skiied for a few runs or so I guess I can accept there argument but we did not even use the service we paid for. The manager just quoted the rule book at us. I presume very swiss but really who cares just disgusting money grubbing as far as I am concerned hiding behind a rule book. Will never ever return.

Hello,
We are sorry that your ski day at Glacier 3000 did not go as planned.
Weather conditions at 3'000 meters can change quickly which force us to close the resort for security reasons.

Quite expensive, but ultimately value for money:
First with cable car to 3000m. At the top, after a few extra steps, you can cross a safe suspension bridge from one top to the other, with a beautiful view of the surrounding area, clouds permitting.
Afterwards you can (included) descend to the glacier with a chair lift and take a short walk here. With us, the warm weather in September had transformed the glacier into an ice rink, but it was still an experience!
Afterwards we ate a delicious tuna sandwich in the cafeteria, reasonable prices despite the location, and we had to accept the smell of the raclette from a number of other guests...

Dear DeGeert
Thank you for your nice feedback! We're glad you enjoyed your visit to Glacier 3000. I hope the smell of raclette didn't put you off the good Swiss cheeses ;-)

We visited Glacier 3000 on August 25, 2023 in the afternoon. When we got to the top, I was surprised that we ended up on a construction site. The toboggan run closed, fan park closed, restaurant closed. When we wanted to take the Ice Express chairlift, it was also closed, supposedly because of wind, in my opinion because of too few visitors. So for 85Fr. per person you get a suspension bridge with a view point, picnicking on a messy terrace and a souvenir shop. A disgrace! (They should probably give us half the price back).

A huge construction site dominates the mountain and spoils any sense of tranquility. The idea that construction = Development surely has no place in the modern world. The ski slopes are poorly designed and few in number. All blue. All T-bars except about 150m one chairlift, only one restaurant. Overall impression best case everything done minimal cheap. Selling TISSOT watches to non-skiers seems to be the raison d'etre of this place

Wanting a day off from skiing Gstaad we chose to drive up to the Col du Pillon. We were disappointed as we expecting to be able to ski on the Glacier but apart from the access cable car the lifts were closed due to high wind. None the less we went up to the top and did the sky walk ... What a wonderful experience...the view is magnificent. Well worth the visit ....skiing on not!

Very nice point of view, on the other hand 330th is not honest, 5 couples with 3 children telling me all the activities to do up there except that no sledding because there is no snow, it doesn't melt by the time you climb!!,
No mechanical sled and after 15 minutes to go towards the glacier they came to tell us to turn around because there was a storm in the forecast, yes I know it turns out quickly, except that since their sunny decision more than 2 hours later, even the staff were discussing it in the descending cable car laughing to find out who saw the storm..and I point out that no one had warned at the bottom of anything, I can understand that we make decisions for safety but a minimum of. Exchange with the weather before closing everything would be a minimum and it's very expensive the round trip..I have no doubt that the investment and maintenance are expensive but don't sell all your activities down there knowing that there are none 1/ 3..otherwise the staff on the way there were very friendly..

Bonjour davidlE3239ZQ

How to buy the alpine coaster? Can you pay by card when you are on top or cash? Or would you need to pre-book... is it quite risky if it is open or closed

Hello , what are the timings for Glacier 3000 on Christmas day? Can the kids do any activities on the 25th of December?
Written November 10, 2023
Am I reading correct that the price is the same whether or not you plan on skiing? It is giving me Euro 85pp to go up & back on a half-day trip and do the peak walk in April24?
Written October 17, 2023
Hi
I see that Glacier 3000 is dog friendly.
Our dogs are ok on a cable car but we don’t fancy holding them on a chair lift. Would worry too much. Do you have to take a chair lift to get to where all the activities are like the suspension bridge walk etc or does the cable car get you to everything.
Thanks

hello. will be driving. which pedestrian pass to choose? there are two options on line and they both say "roundtrip". When I select the one that is 80- it seems to be wanting me to include SW ski pass information? please help

What is the risk of altitude sickness as a pedestrian day visitor please. We are normally only 46 meters above sea level!

Hi, we're planning to visit Glacier 3000 in December. We are booking a ski lesson meeting at Place de Mazots at the arrival of the Diablerets Express gondola lift. If we'd like to do the lesson in the morning and then do the Peak Walk and other activities included in the pedestrian pass do we need to purchase two separate passes- a ski day pass plus the pedestrian pass?
Written December 3, 2022
Hi, with your ski day pass, you can do the activites for pedestrian. So you don't need to puchase another ticket.
Written December 5, 2022
Hi, I'm visiting in September. How's the weather at this time? And do we have the option of leasing some big jackets there, or need to bring ours? Is it that cold at this season to bring "big jackets"?
