it's always a nice stroll along the lakeside of Ascona, at any time of the year and at any weather. just half an hour from Locarno by local bus, Ascona is kind of ah tourist hot spot, but now, with all the restrictions due to the Corona pandemic, it is rather quiet. even more so we enjoyed our visit.

Ascona is always worth a visit. Been here a couple of times and still amazes every time.
The town itself is a sight on its own right. Strolling through the narrow streets and lanes is just a nice thing to do. The old town's not that big, so you surely won't get lost.

Besides the old town the Promenade on the lake - the Lungolago - is what you come for. It's not the biggest or longest Promenade, but it's one of the most beautiful. The Lago Maggiore is just a wonderful lake and you can see to the other side: Italy. Take a walk, take a boat...take a break and enjoy this wonderful Promenade.

There's plenty of space, since the Lungolago is very wide. Along the way a good number of restaurants and of course some souvenir shops. But also a nice park at the southern end and lots of benches to stretch your legs. From the official photo op on the northern end you really can get nice pics of the Lungolago with the colourful buildings backing it up.

If you're around here already, don't miss out on Locarno, another beautiful town in Ticino.

Loved the walk along the long lake, there's a parking right at the lake front.
If you want to take pictures, walk slightly up hill at the end of the lakefront.
Don't miss as well the charming back roads.

We were visiting a friend who lives in Losone and he took us down to Ascona to walk along the wide promenade which is next to the huge lake which is backed by snow capped mountains and numerous restaurants lining the length of the promenade. The weather was sunny and warm and the stroll along the banks taking in the vista was very relaxing and we were very pleased to have visited this place before returning to the UK.

Just a lovely place to stroll - the waterfront promenade and then the small streets leading into the heart of the old town. Lovely views of Lago Maggiore and the mountains.

Charming to the point of kitschiness, with plenty of unchallenging activities to suit kids and seniors. By night, a party scene.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the view, atmosphere and the food at this restaurant. It also had lovely views of the lake. The service we received was also commendable. All in all you can’t lose!

Nice place to walk along the lake or sit in the cafes near the lakeside. Great views to the lake and mountains.

We always walk here from our house. My kids (7 & 9) love the park along the water at the far end of the strip. They have a mini go-cart track (just an oval) that costs 1 CHF for 1 min. of riding. There are 6 huge trampoline jumpers next to the park, creating a mini "fun zone." Walk down further and you can catch the boats going to Italy. (Cannobio is always a great destination for cheaper drinks and pizza.) All along the path are amazing views and tons of places to eat and have a drink. When you need more adventure, rent a paddle boat (4 people max) or a motor boat to explore the lake. Watch out for the big passenger boats, though. They find amusement in scaring the smaller boats on the lake and get rather close to them.

The lungolago is beautiful and the quirky cracking art makes it more fun. The lakeside is spectacularly beautiful.
