Nyon is a short train ride from Geneva. We paid to enter the chateau - the ticket entitles you to enter other museums in the town. The chateau had a few rooms to see over a number of floors. Probably of most interest was the old prison cells. The chateau has an elevated position close to the lake and the views from the chateau are very impressive.

Celebrating our son and daughter in laws 11th wedding anniversary. I asked if I could have the Misto Mare with just gambas - no problem at all. The dish that arrived with the tempura gambas and vegetables was absolutely exquisite. A truly delightful meal. The staff were so helpful and service was exceptional. Highly recommend a visit

Beautiful castle located on top of a small hill, from there you have great views of the city and the lake! Going up or down was not exhausting, a pleasant experience! It is nice that many people go and spend time at the viewing platform by the castle.

The castle of Nyon is just really special. It has pretty amzing views over the city, the lake, the mountains. I guess it is a beautiful place, a perfect spot for amazing pictures.
I even think there is a space for wedding receptions.

My french is not very good, but the staff spoke english and some of the informative plaques had english translations. I particularly loved the study with a selection of period music to play to overlooked the lake!

There is so much in the chateau that it is hard to see everything even in a 2 hour period, but it is worth at least trying. Even though some of the displays may not interest kids, the building itself, with turrets, barred windows, and fully equipped prison cells, is still able to maintain a lot of interest. Nyon porcelain occupies several floors, but the displays are not too complicated to attract the attention of all ages. The prison cells, with photos of real criminals and those suspected of crimes – including a police book containing photos of people to watch out for in case they come into town – are fascinating, and its use as a jail is not that remote. There is also room full of displays about the history of Nyon (which is nicely complemented by a visit to the Roman museum - included in your ticket price - but there is much more than just Rome in Nyon’s history). And check out the storage attic, with a collection of items that hint to just how many more items could be on display if there were only more room. You will likely want to get on Google after the visit to find out more about Nyon, or buy one of the books in the bookshop. As is the case with most Swiss museums, the facilities are impeccably maintained.

Since we were in Nyon to visit the Roman museum and columns, we stopped here as well. Once you purchase the Roman Museum ticket you can get into the Château and Leman museums free. There is a beautiful stone spiral staircase, a lot of painted porcelain dishes and blue colored glass. The chateau sits above Lake Geneva and has a super view of it and the homes below. It’s a very quaint town and view. Most of the signs were in French or German so I didn’t understand much but I enjoyed seeing the four floors with their collections. My 10 yo was not interested, he found the legos on the first floor and built while we looked around.
