For over 30 years already, the world's first-ever food-themed museum has been sharing a global and independent view of the many aspects of the human diet. Its multidisciplinary, cultural, historical, scientific and nutritional-focused approach and its bold and original programme of activities have established the Alimentarium as the world's leading food-themed attraction. As the centrepiece of the Museum, the new permanent exhibition "Food - The essence of life" invites children and adults alike to take a fresh look at an activity steeped in history and laden with emotional significance: eating. The unique new scenography, combining discovery, experimentation and learning, invites visitors on a fun-filled, interactive journey through three new sectors: Food, Society and The Body. Enlivened with projections, interactive terminals and video installations, this immersive experience will make visitors aware of the influence diet can have on the body and its environment.

Well laid out and very interactive for all ages. If interested in food this is a museum for you. I was disappointed but then not that interested in food.

We were just passing by this lovely building on the promenade in Vevey and thought we would have a look inside! Another fun, well presented Swiss museum, this one all about food. Very interactive and once again, we learned a lot about food! Our 13-year old was thoroughly immersed. The vegetable quiche in the cafe was also very good!

It is nice place to visit for everybody. Fresh air, giant lake with high mountains and cloud around. You should go there at the weekend and relax to refresh your mind!

We came upon this sculpture while walking along the waterfront in Vevey. It is a short walk away from the Charlie Chaplin statue.

If you happen to be walking around the old part of Vevey and the lake promenade, then this remarkable newly renovated building is worth a visit. It’s all about food from the beginning of mankind to present junk food and eating habits. Should be very interesting to children and teenagers.

Even it can be difficult to imagine a musem based on food, this museum worth a visit. Kids have lots of interactive spaces where to learn about food and health.

Lunch and business meeting at the Alimentarium. There is only one menu choice in the restaurant which was packed with healthy vegetables, but a little spicy. Most of the adults were happy with the dish but none of the children found it appealing or appetising - they had to resort to bread rolls which are CHF1 each. The small dish... More

My children & family have been coming to the Alimentarium for 5 years now and it has always been one of their favourite museums in the area. In fact, most vacations my son insists on visiting it 4 or 5 times. Last year it was closed for renovations, and we were very much looking forward to seeing what they'd done.... More
