For over 30 years already, the world's first-ever food-themed museum has been sharing a global and independent view of the many aspects of the human diet. Its multidisciplinary, cultural, historical, scientific and nutritional-focused approach and its bold and original programme of activities have established the Alimentarium as the world's leading food-themed attraction. As the centrepiece of the Museum, the new permanent exhibition "Food - The essence of life" invites children and adults alike to take a fresh look at an activity steeped in history and laden with emotional significance: eating. The unique new scenography, combining discovery, experimentation and learning, invites visitors on a fun-filled, interactive journey through three new sectors: Food, Society and The Body. Enlivened with projections, interactive terminals and video installations, this immersive experience will make visitors aware of the influence diet can have on the body and its environment.

Loved it

It didn't cost anything and we had a blast taking picture after picture of us and the folk doing crazy things. Met a family from Morroco who were doing likewise. So we took... read more

This BIG Fork is absolutely the landmark in Vevey, everyone can have so much fun to take many photos in different angles of the fork here.

There has been an impressive job on interactivity wit lots of content available on the numerous screens. This means two things: - You will need time and opportunity to spend lots of time on the screens, which is not so easy if the museum is crowded. You may end up zapping a lot of content. - The screens are almost... More

This museum is a Nestlé sponsored museum and is all about food, food history, where food comes from and anything related to food and cooking. Kids love it. I was personally a bit disappointed. They just reopened after rebuilding the exposition and they could have been a lot more creative in the use of today's interactive tools. This is possibly... More

Did not have time to visit the museum but had a blast taking some snaps with the Fork. Nice piece of innovative art.

I visited the museum with a group of friends. Some of the exhibits are interesting, however, the quality is not unified. It might fit a group of kids, however, I suspect adults will not find is suitable.

The museum was not open when we visited last April but we did not miss the chance to take our picture with THE FORK! What a fun installment! We had some time to wait for our lunch and so we sat lakeside and watched people sit on the chairs that are installed on the rocks and enjoyed people watching.

It's an interesting building with a great garden and cafe right on the lake front. It's interactive. Right outside is a huge fork in the lake marking the "spot".

Museum presents food in all its aspects, not only as a culinary delight. It is interactive, with lot of touch screens and learning games. Very informative and fun, personally, I liked best the part that describes how our body processes food and how our senses react to food.

The Alimentarium re-opened in June 2016 after almost a year of renovations and is now a far more interesting and inter-active place to visit. It is also very "high tech" in that there are loads of touch screens, wall screens etc that explain everything to do with food. (Food as a vital part of life, not as a culinary experience!)... More
