Nice graphic castle at Estavayer. If you're in town then definitely give it a quick tour. Doesn't take more than 20'. Wish it was bigger and you could go inside (like Chateau du Chillon in Lausanne).

One of the many things I love about Europe is it's history, it's hard to go very far without seeing a castle, church or spectacular ruin. The Chateau de Chenaux in Estavayer-le-Lac Switzerland is a lovely well maintained Swiss Castle. Beautiful turrets. We travelled all...More

It was very romantique to be married in the room inside the castle. We had a nice view over the lac of Neufchatel. Already the entrance makes you feel in medieval times. We found it funny to see that the office to the police is...More

This is a must if you visit Estavayer-le-lac. It's been beautifully maintained. Unfortunately most of it houses local administration offices and is not suitable for public viewing. The offices have not been restored in an original manner and are rather boring. However, if you are...More

I was lucky enough to visit this town during the Red Bull Velodux cycle race around and through the castle. Great event, highly recommend. Amazing location and very nice people throughout the town with some very nice cafes and restaurants spread throughout.

If you've already seen a bazillion castles and only want to see the biggest and "best", Château de Chenaux might not be for you. If you like sites that are off the beaten track (ie, fewer tourists), that have their own charm, and that happen...More
