We made the hike to the top of the mountain only to find that the castle was closed to visitors for renovations. This is the cost of making improvements. We’ve visited in the past and can recommend it for your visit (if it is open).

Prison condition, massive gates, two keeps, gorgeous moats, lovely position on a hill-everything you want from a medieval castle! Museum is closed until next spring, we were told, but you can visit the castle grounds. Lovely townsfolk.
