Take the bus up to "Obbürgen, Abzw. Trogen" and walk the rest of the way, first into the tiny town with the hotels, and then follow the cliff path to the lift. This part is stroller accessible, at least to the lift. It has some of the best views of Luzern and Pilatus. The lift ride is short, and not... More

All the new building works made it hard for our friend to guide us to the cliff path. It leads one on an easy gradient to the lift that goes up the sheer cliff. I thought I would leave her and my wife and take a little beaten path up through the woods. It did come out at the top... More

The resort is being rebuilt and expanded. The views are amazing but I have fears that it will effect the pristine family farms surrounding the area

Hardly anybody knows about it...... But it is FAB,! Such a view of lake lucerne! Fantastic. Also the path leading to it is beautiful. The lift is unique (over 3m per second). The self service resto at the top with the horrendous prices is a disgrace to the lake lucerne... I believe it will change when the renovations of buergenstock... More

Having stayed at Burgenstock many years ago we decided to revisit and travelled by lake steamer to the boat station. We were surprised to find when the boat arrived that the funicular was not working. Enquiries made with the boat crew revealed that the resort is being rebuilt/modernised and may be open later in the year (2015). Until then I... More

The Bürgenstock including lift is an easy walk with a wonderful view on lake, Lucerne, Rigi and just North. What you definetely should avoid is this really bad tourist trap on top. Cheapest food (industrial stuff served straight from the can), unfriendly service and seating under a tent with unsafe installations. The nicer terasse is usually totally packed in summer.... More

My husband and I hiked from the boat stop to the resort (see note below) during a heat wave and arrived at the bottom of the elevator sweaty, hungry, but pretty excited. It's a short ride to the top, but it is an *awesome* view. Where else can you ride an outdoor elevator? At the top we had a snack... More

Very interesting place. Enjoyed it. The views from the top are fantastic. This is one of the most beautiful lake views in the world. And the aura of this place is really nice. Come there and feel it. By the way. the restaurant on the top is not bad. Quite nice food is served there.
