The Diebsturm was built around 1380. It was a prison for a long
time and with its diameter of 8 meters with 4 floors it wasn't comfortable at all. Built up at the highest level of the island of Lindau you have an wonderful view out of the 35 meter high tower.
So the corner towers were built in all the four cardinal points in
a framework style.

Nice photo opp especially if you get a snap by yourself or as a couple because its not busy. Adjacent is a small art studio and museum. All part of a healthy stroll around town.

This is an unusual shaped tower. It is round with a pointed roof and several little turrets. Its English name is 'Thieves or Criminals Tower'. It was built in about 1400 and was the westernmost point in the former city fortification. It has also served as the watch tower and as a prison.

Not much to say other than this is a fairy tale photo op. I was told by a resident that this was originally the castle tower location where, they claimed, was the inspiration for Rapunzel before the location was changed to the tower by the harbor. In any event, it is very nice, if you visit in the morning you will find better lighting conditions for photos.

Just go and enjoy. It's interesting and well worth a look round, outside and in, especially if it's wet - or too hot.

The Diebsturm attracted our attention when we walked by it. Its colorful turrets and its colorful tiles stands out! We discovered that this used to be a prison. At least the prisoners had a great view over the city! For a prison, it must have been luxurious as I never have seen such a beautiful prison!
It was built in 1380. However it almost was destroyed in 1817. However a bricklayer named Johann Jacob Götzge saved it from destruction. I am certainly glad about that!
