Rococo is the name for the final, most exuberant stage in the Baroque. And this church is full of it even if you would not guess so from the outside. Swirling and sweeping curves, pastel colours, a scattering of silly cherubs... it's a love-it-or-hate-it sort of style but I challenge anyone to come out of this church without a big smile and a fuzzy feeling.

When my husband and I entered this church, we both gasped. It was the most ornate, wonderful example of Rococo architecture we had ever seen. We always enjoy visiting churches throughout the world and we had never seen anything like this. Don't miss it if you are in Lindau.

This is the Catholic Parish Church of Lindau known as St Marien of Stiftskirche. It originally dates from 810 AD but the current building only dates from 1752. The interior is simply beautiful with stunning Frescos and a magnificent organ. It was a pity it was not being played. The interior was a welcome cool sanctury from the heat outside. The minster was renamed 'Unserer Lieben Frau' on 9 July 2002.

We first tried to go into the church next door but it was locked, so we went into this one. Wow - what a beautiful interior. We had seen the church at Birnau a couple of days before and we expected its beauty, but this one was totally unknown to us.

The inside of the church was simply stunning for me. The murals are amazing and the organ is really impressive. A must see in my opinion.

This is a working church. Worth seeing. I wouldn't travel to Lindau just to see this church but is definitely worth a look given it is right off the main square. Won't take long.

I trust a God, yes i am.

Europe has a plenty of beautiful churches, but only a few people attending the Sunday service.

This medieval Cathedral is one of them.
Built between 1748-1752, this renaissance architecture is a masterpiece, i can not find them in my home country.

For me it is #1 place to visit in Lindau

Beautiful, cheerful and exuberant church with fabulous paintings and a spectacular organ with a gilded figure of King David perched on top. Really lovely place . I've graded it 'very good' rather than excellent only because it's very low-key and there did not seem to be any tourist info to hand. No matter - well worth a visit to drink in the soul of the place,

Sunday evening sung vesper and holy mass.
Even though the vesper was attended by relatively few people, it was very spiritual and impressive for us, being visitors who came there (as well as to Lindau) for the first time. The church interior is beautiful and after a lovely day in the town it was the right place where we could thank our Lord for such a beautiful Sunday spent at the lake.

Amazing paintings and fittings in this church. Unfortunately the organ recital for the Saturday we were here was not here. Still worth a look though.
