I'd been wanting to try my hand at surfing for a while and was excited to finally have a chance on my trip to Lanzarote. I was travelling with friends and staying in Playa Blanca, while we were home office-ing during the pandemic. The only place to surf on the island however is in a small town on the north side of the island, almost an hour's drive from the south where we were staying (the trip there and back practically costed more than the 4 hour surf lesson.)
My girlfriend had prebooked almost a whole week for us before getting there, and although we were able to reduce that once I showed up for my first class (alone because she had some work emergencies to attend that week). We were still had to miss more than half of the classes we paid, and were not given any refunds or options for what we didn't attend.
All the surf schools on the island are lined up next door to each other in the same town. This school's advertisement said it included transport to the beach, but that beach is next to that town, and although this school goes to the edge of the beach furthest away from the town, It is just a 10 to 15 min walk from the town.
If you are interested in surfing, I recommend going to the town and shopping around among all the surf schools there to sign up for what you can do that day, and try out different instructors if you can make it there more than one day. Don't recommend signing up for anything in advance, especially since it is so out of the way from the rest of the activities on the island and this school, at least, gives you no flexibility once they have your money.
