Unless you take the easy route up by very slow yellow bus (which runs every hour on the hour and returns at 20 past the hour), this is a real hike up to the hilltop. It is probably that you don't get the same bus...More
Wonderful castle ruins on top of Bernkastle-Kues. Fantastic views at top and great facilities, cafe/toilets. Quite steep walking up from town (I think there is a bus from town if you require assistance). Certainly recommended a visit if only for the view at the top!
The old castle ruins uphill is not very attractive but the views it offer are wonderful. We take the "yellow" bus uphill but walk downhill through the vineyards. The way downhill is easy and it finally ends up in the market square down town. Highly...More
Landshut is one of many castle ruins in Rhineland Palatinate. Big part of it is occupied by restaurant which was packed during mu visit. The castle itself is not that interesting, but the views to the town and valley from there are breath taking.
Well worth the walk up (or shuttle bus if you prefer). From the main square the walk takes up to 30 minutes, and is obviously a bit of a climb but not too bad. Good views at the top overlooking Bernkastel and the vineyards. The...More
We took the 'yellow bus,' which is really more of a truck with seats. It dropped us off right at the facility. We were told we could walk it but the bus worked best for us. We did not eat there although a nice meal...More

The restaurant has floor to ceiling glass walls that allows you to enjoy...More

Yes, but you can climb up to see the view. Besides, there's nothing really exciting to see inside. They have a restaurant in the summer but the food is crappy. Well, it's nice to stop for a glass of wine after the hike up.
