My husband and I took the KD Line and landed in port at Boppard. We walked 1 km, about 10 minutes, to the base of the Sesselbahn. It took us on a lovely 15 minute ride to the top of the mountain, that cuffs in...More

As we husband cannot walk far we are always looking for ways to sightsee whilst sitting down. This was ideal we could park next to the entrance -the staff took special care to help us onto the seats and the views as we went up...More

We happened to go on a cold windy day. So we basically went up and then straight back down. However the views of the Rhine and the valley are spectacular. There are options to ride up and hike down. Or bring a mountain bike and....More

Itinerary and Cruises for 3 days (9 Replies)
We are with 2 kids aged 9 and 10 and doing Germany for around 25 days. The last part being Rhineland Bacharach where we are putting up from 23rd to 26th May. No matter how many posts I read, find it difficult to formulate a satisfactory itinerary so decided to post and seek help to simplify things. Our points of interest are the Rhine and the Mosel cruize ( covering the most scenic parts ), Seilbahn in koblenz and Sesselbahn in Boppard (since the kids would love it), a castle or 2 the more...More

From Bacharach, we took the train to Bingen, crossed on the ferry to Ruedesheim, then took the Seilbahn over the vineyards to the big monument on top of the river bank (Niederwalddenkmal). From there, an easy walk of less than an hour through the forest, and we took the Sesselbahn down to Assmannshausen. From there we took a boat back to Bacharach (serendipitously, a 100 year old paddle steamer called Goethe). We did the Seilbahn in Koblenz and the Sesselbahn in Boppard. Loved the one in...More
