Between them are narrow, winding lanes dotted with cafés and inns, cozy beer gardens and pretty little shops. It's the perfect area to stroll around, grab a bite to eat and browse for souvenirs. Our hotel had brochures etc in German and although I can read and understand a little - they suggested that the Tourist info rmation centre would have them in English. They had none and the staff were not particulary friendly even though the place was empty. They were not interested.

As part of a bus tour of Germany, two adults took this tour in English from "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". Was really excellent entertainment. Lasted over 60 minutes. Extremely interesting storyteller, flute player and comedian. Since this was part of our bus tour, I don't know how these tours are arranged, but highly recommend it. If you can attend, you won't be sorry.

If you like to receive information about the city, see the impressions of the region, book a city tour with Pied Piper or some other city guide, buy souvenir from Hameln, you can go there. Close to this information center you will find a city park to have a nice brake middle of the city. Remember and see the Pied Piper Story at the main entrance to this park. Also you can see the local radio sender live, which is behind the glass windows.

Nice tourist center, very helpful staff. The shop has very nice, cool souveniors - loved the cheese knife (shaped like a rat!). Noticed during last visit that they now have rental bicycles there. Bikes are a great way to get around Hameln and try out the Weser Cycle path!

Very entertaining tour around th old city of Hamelin led by a guide dressed as the Pied Piper .he tells the story of the old fairy tale about the Pied Piper and how this story came iabout and the true story behind the legend leading us through the streets playing his pipe! Lots of interesting facts, historical details, old houses and streets all revealed with charm, funny anecdotes and humour.Well worth the 11/2 hours gentle stroll around. So much better than just reading a guide book!
