After visiting Mainau Gardens at 19€ the 6€ for this is a bargain. What a wonderful gem of a place. It must have taken us at least a couple of hours to stroll around and try to absorb everything. We had picked up a leaflet at Heidelberg Tourist Information and were so glad we decided to go. It by far... More

the gardens & its surroundings portray such grandeur .. there's hidden treasures all around the vast property, you'd have to scour the entire place to take in the vastness & its beautiful scenery of the castle, fountain gardens with manicured lawns, statues, mosques, ruins, lake, ducks & ducklings, bridges ..

The castle has a concert venue during the summers set up adjacent to the main courtyard. It was a great setting. The Castle is nestled into the town. From the approach I never would have guessed the very large size of the estate and was surprised upon entering the gate.

Lovely castle gardens. Went there by chance and am very happy we did. The gardens are not free access and it costs 6€ per adult. They are very well kept and used for concerts etc. I recommend it for a nice relaxing stroll, the only downside is the cost of entrance, but that isn't a big issue.

We went with a group from our convention. It was recommended by locals, and I can see why. The gardens and grounds are amazing. While the palace was closed for repair, we had a very enjoyable walk in the gardens. They range from formal to wilder spaces. A mosque and ruined Greek temple constructed for the gardens also lie on... More

The castle is internationally among all the famous castles in Germany not well known. But it is a lovely historic place which is very well preserved and kept in great condition. The castle is nicely decorated with historic furniture and paintings. There are also guided tours on offer (in German and English language - the English guided tour should be... More

And I really enjoyed it there! Entrance costs 3euro for student/pupil/disabled etc. Looks stunning in summer as well as in autumn. Various sections: birds, trees, Wasserkastel, gate, rivulets, ponds, etc. Ideal for wedding photo shooting. I dont normally say this but Schwetzinger Schloss is a Must if you're in the region!

On our drive to Heidelberg from Stuttgart, we found this place under POI. And to our pleasant surprise found it to be such a wonderful experience. this is a must visit place for nature lovers. the palace is nothing great but the palace gardens are a visual treat. they are vast and very well maintained. Do remember to collect the... More
