or come for the Easter Egg market, or another event, but be sure to come have a look at this lovely castle where many events are held in an inviting and comfortable venue. We have made an annual pilgrimage with the camera for several years, and enjoyed walking in the gardens, as well as events we have attended inside, and... More

A very pleasant walk through what some claim to be the second most beautiful park in Europe (losing to Versailles only). It is very beautiful and big indeed, but a walk in winter means not being able to see its sculptures or the castle itself. I believe in spring and summer it must be a more beautiful walk.

Take a day to roam and explore the gardens-The Lilac bushes in the spring are magnificent. Spring through fall, it is wonderful to wander-so many things to see. I used to live in the area, and it was always a treat to see the gardens.

It's a beautiful garden, specially if the weather is nice. Better to go in summer- not winter, as there will be more greens and flowers ( in winter it was a bit poor plants wise).

Don’t miss this if you have an interest in gardens. Many beautiful fountains and whimsical buildings like the Apollo Temple and Turkish Mosque in additional to formal gardens to wander and relax to spend an afternoon or the whole day. Take #717 bus from Heidelberg Train Station outside the Tourist Info Office, it is about 30 minutes. The town of... More

We visited the Schloss as part of our vacation in Germany, returning to places where my parents had visited back in the early 50's when my Dad was stationed near Mannheim. Schwetizingen Castle/Schloss was one of those places, what a beautiful garden they have as part of the facility. We took many photos of the flowers and a great photo... More

The palace was closed for visitors, but the gardens were magnificent and the mosque-inspired garden building was most unexpected, but very beautiful and peaceful. But we happened upon the biggest surprise by accident as we walked around the little downtown area. At the location from which the town's Jewish population was deported during World War II is a memorial of... More

Truly the best part of the Heidelberg region. Beautiful gardens and magnificent views. You can't believe you are in a town when you walk through the trees and sculpted areas. The temples and various themes were damn cool. If you are in the area be sure to pay it a visit.

These gardens and the palace are worth a leisurely stroll. You should also visit the Rokoko theatre in the palace. We had the opportunity to attend one of their operas presentation - very pleasant. Unfortunately we had made a reservation at the adjoining restaurant for after the opera - which was confirmed on the spot - but to our dismay... More
