Spend the extra euros on a castle tour. English tours are at 14:15 on the weekends. The history of the castle and the opulentes of that time can only be appreciated by such a tour. The gardens are stunning. We spent 5 hours at the...More

My second visit, but this time with my wife and adult children. You cannot stay in Heidelberg without visiting Schwetzingen to understand this beautiful area and the history. The Schloss is interesting in architecture, but the huge garden plan with a lake is magnificent. Mainly...More

We visited this beautiful park at 10:00 and booked the English language tour of the castle at 14:15 which lasted 60 minutes. The combined Ticket price was just €10 (6 for park 4 for castle) not much inside the castle odd bit of furniture quite...More

Schwetzingen castle is very near to Hotel Villa Benz where I stayed recently. Very good to walk inside & refresh myself. A must to visit if you can spend some short time to spare.

The castle is very small, but the gardens are amazing. If you didn’t pick a map at the entrance no problem! It’s so big you can use google maps to make sure you didn’t miss a spot. They have Roman style sculptures, Egyptian and even...More

For the age and amount of space in the town, the Castle is the best. A walk in the garden is so therapeutic!

We visited on a Thursday and discovered they had an English tour at 230 I believe. The tour was booked and so were the next 2 and we were unable to spend half the day there so we opted for the garden visit only. The...More

The garden is the best one of its kind I've ever been to. It's neat and huge and you can easily wander around for an entire day. There are animals, beautiful plants and flower, a temple, a well-maintained ruin, a bath house, an oriental-inspired building...More

The park of Schwetzingen castle is one of the best samples of high class gardens in that part of Germany (together with Ludwigsburg, probably). Perfect place for a relaxed and enjoyable walk, especially in spring, when the garden is blooming. Try to be here during...More

When compared to the likes Versailles, Schonbrunn, and Charlottenburg, Schloss Schwetzingen may seem a bit provincial. But that's the core of its charm. The gardens and decorative buildings here (including a mosque) provide a nice balance of nature and man. Neither is it overwhelming in...More
