Schwetzinger Castle is one of the castles located in the region of Waden-Bürttenberg, in Germany. I came here in december, only few days ago, and I visited the gardens. Due to cool, ot was not possible to see some of the statues. Also, the vegetation...More
Went to the castle but missed the guided tour so we couldn’t go in. It was Saturday and the last tour was 3:00. We were told the next tour was tomorrow at 11. In the winter there are no tours in English. We walked the...More
We took a day trip to see the castle and the surrounding area. The grounds of the castle are huge and beautiful even in the fall. The maintenance team was planting flowers in the beds and addressing the leaves which are falling.

En route for Heidelberg we stopped off in Schwetzingen which boasts a castle and gardens. The gardens outdo the castle by a mile, well worth the €6 entry fee. Planted formally in the French style they require a big staff just to maintain, but we...More
We happened to visit after 5.30pm and found that the entry fee was reduced, only 3 euros each to enter. The grounds are extremely well maintained and are colourful and the smell is fab. The grounds are pretty extensive and would take quite awhile to...More

We only had time to tour the grounds of the Schloss which extend for a mile or more with little cul-de-sacs off to the side. Beautiful and relaxing. The train system in Germany is excellent and takes you to Schwetzingen. To get there, we landed in Frankfurt, took the speed train to Mannheim, then transferred to the local line that went to Schwetzingen--Heidelberg and other locations. The Schloss is about 3 or 4 blocks from the train station and the town is delightful to walk through. There are taxis across the street from the train station if you do not care to walk. Across the street from the Schloss is the town plaza with delightful cafes serving really good food and beverage.
