Well worth the visit. Different structure than most churches. Exterior architecture worth the walk around

The history of the church goes back to the 10th century when a monastery church was built here.
The current Limburg Cathedral (Dom St. Georg) was built during the 13th to 19th century as a result of several thorough renovations and extensions.
The church is a basilica with stands above the aisles.
The interior looks a bit austere, but is definitely worth a visit.
Admission is free, although a (small) donation will always be appreciated.

This is a must if you are in town. It's location is very impressive being the highest point in Limburg so can be seen from miles around. You can buy a basic guide for euro 0.5 or a more expensive in depth one. We used the basic guide and spent 30 minutes wandering around. The wall paintings some of which date back around 900 years are particularly of note.

Impressive cathedral on top of a small mountain in the old city of Limburg. The grave of Konrad Kurzbold and the ancient baptizing font are very interesting.

The cathedral rises above the old town clearly visible from the highway A3. It is worth a detour if not a day visit. The town itself is charming and a tourist magnet, and the cathedral is beautiful from the outside and on the inside. The colors really work very well.

the beauty of this cathedral is in its simplicity, not heavily decorated, or too many statues but the amazing architecture the gothic arches and the views are marvelous

The cathedral is beautifully situated on top of the hill in Limburg town. The colourful roman exterior is in sharp contrast with the gothic ascetic interior. Very much worth a visit. And it is a nice hike up from the town below.
A note, the castle is next door, but undergoing now a big renovation.

The Cathedral in Limburg am Lahn is well worth a detour from the A3. Beautifully situated above a small old-town, with scenic views of the Lahn River, this Cathedral is a flamboyant late Romanesque design with many distinctive details. The exterior painting of the building is very colorful and the interior stone arches and galleries are a delight to see. While not covered with statuary, there are several superb stone carvings inside. The nativity scene is creative and includes running water in a small stream, live goldfish, and a carved elephant that is part of the wise men’s caravan. There is no entry fee. There is limited parking near the Dom and a W/C at the bottom of the plaza.

Light, airy, clear shapes and lines, no overburdening with golden decor and statues. A must see when you are in town!
