The interior of the Baroque Cathedral is worth a visit by itself. The Abbey & oldest Monastery Brewery are very interesting also.

Beautiful Benedictine Monastery next to the Danube. Very attractive church with paintings and figures. Delicious beer from the own brewery. Very friendly waiters. Fast service and prices are good in the Biergarten which I enjoyed sitting. Planning to visit in winter too. Suitable for families...More

This is definitely worth a day trip if you are in the area. We were staying in Regensburg, so we were not far. The complex is right on the river and it's very scenic. There is a very old church you can go into of...More

A superb visit! We were on this as an excursion from our river boat site visit. Took a boat ride over; then then a bus ride back. The boat provided beautiful views of the canyon; and they had snacks, beverages and BEER on board. The...More

Founded in the 7th century this Benedictine Abbey is worth a short visit. The Abbey is said to have the oldest monastic brewery in the world. Try the dark beer available at your visit.

Beautiful monastery on the Donau bend. Food delicious with a great supply of various beer. Our second visit, this time reached by bus from Kelheim as river too low for the big tour boats. Worth the trip for a summer afternoon under the chestnut trees.

There is a lady that gives a great tour of the church. Don't miss it. It is well worth the visit to the Abbey. Stop for a beer and a bite in the courtyard.

The boats are not small, most of their boats take 500-600 people. They appear to have a 150 person boat too, but I've never seen that. Also travelling on the river it is normally a relatively smooth ride.
