This place lets you think of where your roots are, and if ethnicity is something to value. The exhibition teases everybody to do research.

This is an excellent museum with beautifully displayed objects and remains and great activities for all ages. The information is really accessible and suitable for everyone from children to academics. The multimedia was all in working order which is so important in this type of...More

I took the S8 (destination Hagen) from Dusseldorf and walked through the forest from Hochdahl. It was a nice day for a 10 minute walk. The museum itself had much to say on the Neanderthal people, in terms of social organisation, speech capabilities, art, funeral...More

Mettmann is my place of birth. Since I come back very seldom I visit this museum once per year. It offers plenty information about the findings. I will come back again. I recommend to visit this place.

As many museums around the world, this is an informative museum with quite a lot of multimedia and especially a lot to listen to. Interesting topics and of course the bones that were found of the neanderthaler. The site is rather interesting, but I missed...More

A very fascinating subject - the Neaderthalers found - but unfortunately the museum is hardly about this topic but more a story/the evolution about the "human kind". Nothing that we would not know yet (yes humans bury their death and are clever ... we knew...More

What a beautiful museum this is! I really enjoyed it. Okay, there is way too much information to read or listen to everything but it is worth your money. Even when you don't read everything or don't plug in your headset in every spot. Especially...More

Neanderthal museum is located in a beautiful valley, surrounded by an exuberant woodland. The route between the railway station and the museum is well marked. When walking down from the Neanderthal railway station, towards the main building, the singing birds in the trees kept us...More

While in school I always had the idea that Neandertalers were a rather primitive type of of beings in the developmental history of mankind. The museum conveys quite a different picture, and this in many aspects. It is wonderfully organised.I will definitely come again!
