Doesn’t match its title

I was expecting more from the National Museum. It was a rather scant collection.
The chapel with ‘War and Peace’ murals that takes 5, max 10 minutes to visit and Picasso’s ceramics in another building that I actually enjoyed more.
But the ceramics collection by the local artists upstairs was much more attractive.
Entry fee is 6 Euros. No card payments, just cash. Come prepared.
Not the friendliest of places in France.

Something new from Picasso - I didn't know about
Sep 2019
This museum is a real gem. The church painted by Picasso is so amazing yet gives you an opportunity to think about many things. Mostly relationships - somehow it occurs to me this way... The ceramics exhibited in the museum are very interesting. Some of them have a "wow". I didn't plan to go to Vallauris at the beginning of my trip to French Riviera, but once I went, I really recommend people to go. This small city is packed with attractions and great places to visit

Well worth the stop

A moving and spiritually alive space. Good video to point out what to look for in the painting. We sat there for a long time just absorbing it all. Creative genius. An honor to see it.

Very disappointing, wrong name
Aug 2019 • Family
We visited this museum today in the hope to get to see a nice overview of Picasso's works from his period in Vallauris.
The entry and ticket desk were not clearly indicated and the staff was very unfriendly.
The exhibit itself had a maximum of 20 works from Picasso and all the rest were from modern sculptures...at least three times more.

Really very disappointing!!

It’s not easy to find if you are using public transport.
Jul 2019 • Friends
Tucked up on a mountain side and off the beaten track. From Nice it took us a train and two bus journeys to get here. If you are using public transport then do your homework on how to get here. (Sadly I didn’t do this properly) The main piece is war and peace. I have been to many Picasso exhibitions before but there is nothing to compare with this installation. To be sure you are not going to see it elsewhere. It’s not going to be moved and displayed in other galleries. So for fans it’s a must see. It’s a decent piece with English text of what you are seeing. There are some ceramics which were made in the south of France. Picasso lived here from 1948 to 1955 so he did choose a lovely place to live. There is a bronze statute of a man and lamb in the square. Well worth the visit. Quiet on a Saturday afternoon.

Good exhibits for the Picasso festival
Jul 2018 • Couples
Good museum that’s participating in the Mediterranean Picasso festival with a focus on the Vallauris years across four sites in that town. Watch the (easy to understand French) film in L’Eden too.

A DISAPPOINTING MUSEUM
Mar 2018 • Couples
The Picasso museum in Vallauris has several magnificent works by Picasso, however I've expected to have in the "National Museum of Picasso" a wider assortment of this artist works. This museum has some of Picasso ceramics and a magnificent chapel ceiling painted by the artist. However it is, by no means, a good collection of Picasso's life's work.
If you are in the area it's worth while spending an hour or so, but I would not recommend making a special trip to Vallauris to see this museum.

I've seen the other reviews, sorry to disagree! Give it a miss!

So, I've been to Picasso museums in Paris, Barcelona, Antibes and now Vallauris. This place is a distant, distant last place. Small collection of ceramics in the city famous for ceramics!??? They seriously need to bone up their investment here. Without a doubt you will see better collections in Picasso ceramic sales at Christies or Sotheby's in London or Paris (which I would recommend if you would like to see a great collection FOR FREE!) the chapelle mural in the adjacent building is terrible. Look, I am a big Picasso fan, but by his own admission he painted these Alla quicker (by square meter) than any other work that he completed....and it shows! It lacks imagination (many if not all scenes had been used in other paintings) and any kind of harmony or care in execution. This work must have been an embarrassment to the great master while he was still living. Sorry, but don't bother with this place..go down the road to the Picasso in Antibes, much, much better use of your time!

Small museum., little by Picass
Jul 2017 • Couples
It was interesting to see the small collection of Picasso ceramics. That part of the exhibition only worth a minor detour. The bulk of the museum are temporary exhibits by other artists. What was shown when we were there was worth a visit. However, I recommend checking what is on.

unknown work of a famous painter

Beautiful ceramics of the famous Picasso and many other artists and, as the great surprise, a chapel fully decorated by Picasso, showing his view on war and peace.
