Most likely this unique museum is unknown to many of Ingolstadt's visitors. It's part of the Bavarian Army Museum but is placed at a separate location at the Klenzepark, just across from the river from Ingolstadt's city center.
The museum shows the history of the Bavarian law enforcement agencies over the last years throughout their involvement into events shaping not only local but also world history (eg. coup of Hitler, 1972 Munich Olympics) as well as their role in border protection throughout the Cold War.
The museum has lots of interesting objects on display which would attract younger and older generations too.
You shall not miss this wonderful museum during your visit to Ingolstadt!

Really interesting to see the history of a constantly changing police force. Nice to see some real german history going back beyond the wars.

This museum is devoted to the history of policing in Bavaria, and it contains rooms of exhibits that persons fascinated with or engaged in law enforcement would find interesting.

The small Bavarian Police Museum is worth seeing if you have time. Multiple law enforcement oddities are collected in one museum. Kudos should be give to the integrity of the curators - No holds are barred at this museum in terms of the Bavarian Polizei complicity with the Nazis from the very start, the response to terrorists at the Munich Olympics, and the police response to anti war protestors.
There is a special exhibit on a mass killing that occurred in the early '20s. It looked like a real "who done it" and critical examination of police investigative procedures of the period. Unfortunately, my German skills really weren't sufficient to get much out of this display.

A unique opportunity to see the progression of police technology, uniforms, etc. Friendly reception; however, the labels were all in German which made it more of a looking and making our own interpretations. Take the train to Ingolstadt and walk around.

The Bavarian Police Museum describes the history of the Bavarian police from its beginnings to the present day. The museum is located in a beautiful park on the other side of the river, right next to the Army Museum. Visitors can see a variety of different police uniforms with helmets. Of course, you can also marvel at numerous certificates, diplomas, badges, some weapons, etc. The highlight is of course two old VW Beetle police cars and a police bicycle from that time. Of course, in the modern area there are also several BMW police motorcycles, a discarded Audi police car and a speed camera. There is also an entrance fee. When I presented my severely handicapped ID card, I was given a reduced entrance fee. At my request, free admission is only available for people accompanying severely handicapped people. Unfortunately, credit card payments are not possible. Only cash is accepted. Highly recommended museum.
