Great view!

Great view either from down or up the stairs. Good for a late afternoon view of Bingen and the Rhein

Please not the Castle is closed from November to March. None of the other reviews mentioned this, as they must have visited outside these months. The restaurant however is open 12pm-2pm.

Great views from this area. Not so much of a tour but there were some individuals on the grounds to explain a little bit of the history. There's a lookout place but the scenery is better from the top of the tower. Restaurant is on...More

We climbed up to the top in the evening, and the views were stunning. We did not go inside, but the building is very impressive

The castle stands on the hill, the site of old Roman fortification. Built in 13th century and along with castle Ehrenfels and Mouse Tower, was a toll collecting station on the river trade. Soon the castle was destroyed and the ruin was sold and rebuilt...More

That was a wonderful place but if you want to go all the way to the top you need to climb lots of stairs probably hard for elderly people but they can enjoy the view from street level and take a few pictures. Unfortunately this...More

Even after hours, this is a worthwhile walk up to see the views. The walk itself is only 15 minutes or so from the river and the elevation gain is modest as you walk through town to get to the base of the castle grounds....More

This is not a large castle, but the free trip up into the tower is fun for young and old. It's a climb up, but the view is fantastic. There are at least 2 kestrels (tower falcons) living there and it's worth seeing them fly....More

Our surname is Klopp which made us search out Burg Klopp to see if we could trace a relationship but the history of the origin of the name is very sketchy. Impressive buildings and landscaping with a marvelous view of the area.

A lovely place to spend some time at. A short climb from the centre of Bingen, you can enjoy very lovely views over the city, the river and the vineyards. Definitely worth checking out!

Bed and Breakfast on Rhine/interesting castle ruins (6 Replies)
We are travelling March 20-24 with an 11 year old and 13 year old through the Rhine River area for four days. Where is a good central location to stay and drive to castles along the Rhine? What are the top five castles to visit for two teenagers that want to explore? We are thinking of Burg Klopp, Burg Rheinstien, Castle Sooneck ... How about the cable-railway to the Rudesheim-Niederwald- Monument at this time of year?

The youth hostel in Bacharach is actually in a castle, and the hostels generally have family rooms with private bath. You might want to check directly with them to see whether they have rooms available.
