Bar 2.0 is a hidden little gem in the tiny medieval town of Quedlinburg. Just walking around the cobblestone streets to locate the bar at 11 at night and then slowly stumbling on the bright neon signs in the middle of an old medieval courtyard feels like an adventure. You're immediately struck by this feeling of finding something special, when the rest of the streets seem dark, desolate and the entire town seems to be already deep asleep. I was backpacking through the Harz region and decided to hit this place for a quick beer with two other fellow travellers. Even though it was a Tuesday night, we ended up staying at the bar for over 2 hours! The The space inside is quite simple, with a large pool table, an "interestingly located" foosball table and large 2-3 sets of couches. But it all gets tied well together with a deep black interior and touches of neon lighting everywhere. The bar counter is large, and the beer selection is pretty darn good! We ended up talking to Ralph for a few hours about so much interesting stuff about Germany, Quedlinburg, the pre and post cold war times and about how Quedlinburg has evolved over the years - such an intelligent and friendly person. I wish I would have had a chance to visit the bar on the weekend when there are more people (yes, this is the only late night bar in the entire town), but I was only stopping for a night. Next time I'm in Quedlinburg, I'll definitely stop by for a drink and a chat.
