On the first floor, there was the exhibit of many oil paintings around 1800s, most describing the scenes in the bible – nothing spectacular. The second floor was the ‘living area’ for the kings and bishops, which you can only enter with a guide. Trust...More

If you have seen any of the other spectacular Residenz's in Bavaria (Munich, Wurzburg), this one is a waste of time and money. Little or no furnishings in the first half, somewhat better in the second. Very scanty printed English guide to follow along with...More

It seems that the city of Bamberg decided to put scaffolding over most of its top attractions at the same time. The St. Michael's is completely wrapped in scaffolds, and closed, 2 of the 3 towers of the cathedral, the exterior of the residence, even...More

This massive building fills one side of the Domplatz and at present has large amounts of scaffolding up and work ongoing. It was the seat of the Bamberg Prince Bishops until the early 1800’s. It was €7 to enter and I believe this included a...More

Questions & Answers
Ask a question
Why can you not supply the same amount of information, in other languages, to all visitors, you only cater for German native speakers, I know enough to get by in the language but the dialect Spoken was too difficult, I was told on paying at front desk it's no problem as other language guides are available, these are not guides, one told you dimensions of a room? Why would we want to know bedroom is 90sq m? The guide is informing on many things, she is so rushed through the many rooms she cannot take time for anyone. You take money from tourists to the town but you are not catering for them, if you continue to do this negative reviews will be posted and no visitors will come, is this the way forward? What do you do when people come from Viking river cruises? Or do they not? I look forward to hearing from you

Advice on Day In Salzburg (8 Replies)
Hello My partner and I are going to Munich for a week in December and, unfortunately, can only find one day to visit Salzburg. We are coming by train which will arrive at Salzburg Hauptbanhof at 9:47 AM. The following are the sites we definitely want o see: (1) Mozart;s Residence on Makartsplatz (which most sources suggest isslightly more interesting than Mozart;s Birthplace). (2) The new Salzburg Museum in the Neue Residenz (3) Salzburg Panorama (4) Salzburg Cathedral (5)...More

Bruno I am going to visit the Munich and Nuremberg Christmas Fairs so I am not too concerned with visiting them in Salzburg. Given that it does get dark by 4:30 PM, do you think going to the Forrtress around 2 PM would make sense--getting a day and evening view of the City? Thanks.
