Replacing Henry II Cathedral destroyed by fire in 1185, the Dom was built 1237. The combination of round and pointed arches reveals that it spans the Romanesque and Gothic styles. We saw thee tomb of the canonized Imperial couple Henry II and his wife Kunigunde....More

Very nice place to visit. On top of mount there is a large garden with a great view on city where you can have some fun to take pictures. Unfortunately, church was closed due for repair. Nevertheless I recommand it to climb it.

Compared to many other cathedrals visited in Franconia/Bavaria, this is not quite so ornate. Nevertheless, it merits a visit and inspection. We get a lot of pleasure from wandering round cities and towns and then finding a church or cathedral simply to reflect on all...More

Gorgeous cathedral, beautiful places and views walking around. There is a little renovation going on but you should still get great pictures! Walk down the hill and grab a beer and visit the beautiful town.

Beautiful building with a lovely interior. Under a bit of renovation. Views of the crypts in the basement.

Bamberg's Dom dominates the city. Built on the Top of a hill is impressive, reach and very historical. Its 1000 years history offers a lot of things to discover. Do not miss the wooden Altar and the stone sarcophagus.

Dom is really nice, I wish to have time to visit inside, but definitely will go. It was partly under renovation, but still was really picturesque.

The cathedral is under restoration but it is still magnificent from within and outside. It was wonderfully decorated for Christmas but like most old European Cathedrals there was no heat- you could see your breath on the subfreezing day. Still worth it!

Bamberger Dom was a very beautiful Cathedral and with many stories behind. At the time of our visit there, renovation works were in progress, both internally and externally. It was expected that complete restoration project would be around 2025. As such, we just took a...More

You can enter without a guide but you will miss a lot of history specific to the church. Unfortunately it is undergoing renovations so there is scaffolding inside and out and is expected not to finish until 2025!

Hi, We visited this year and I see from the plan that the Sacrament Chapel is marked number 13 and is on the left hand side entering from Adam's Portal just before The Chapel of the Nail. Hope this helps.
