Last weekend was in Konstanz, Germany....A small beautiful and serene university town on the banks of river Rhine and lake Konstanz with the snow clad alps on the horizon. Enjoyed the stay there👍🏻 Since Konstanz is adjacent to Switzerland, it escaped the bombing by allied forces during world war 2 and hence the old German town beauty and historical monuments... More

There are many unexpected delights to uncover in Konstanz' harbour area. The famous turning statue of Imperia holding a minute emperor and pope aloft is probably the most well-known, and certainly makes for a most unusual harbour entrance. However, the old buildings, the landing bridges of the pleasure and passenger boats (at this time decked with Christmas lights and a 360... More

There are lots of restaurants overlooking the harbour. It is very busy and international. We had bikes and so could go further away from the crowds.

Entering Konstanz from the north of the Rhine, it is nice to walk over the pedestrian footbridge past the old towers and through the underpass towards the lake. Walk alongside the railway line until you reach the park, which is perfectly pleasant. The statue of Imperia is next to the quay for catching the ferry to Friedsrichshafen, and she really... More

My advice is to steer clear of the restaurants here and wander through the well-maintained park and harbour areas. There are regular ferries leaving from this harbour though it is small enough to walk around almost completely. There are beautiful homes on one bank and a luxury hotel on the other. The harbour area has a couple of attractions and... More

So many options in such a small area. This is easily walked and provides wonderful views of the lake and the city. There are a large variety of shops and places to eat just off the harbor, all within walking distance. A must place stop in your travels.
