Certainly the most enchanting Museum I've ever been to, located in the beautiful Moselle valley town of Traben-Trarbach. 4000 Buddhas from various cultures & countries, displayed superbly in a grand, castle-like setting beside the river, we indulged ourselves for four hours until closing time. Just go and see for yourself, it's a treat for lovers of the Buddha in all forms and sizes, and for those who long for some stillness and perhaps inspiration to live a more peaceful life! There is also a wonderful roof garden. We certainly had four very peaceful and reflective /introspective hours!

This gorgeous museum houses more than 2,000 Buddhas from around the world. The King of Bhutan personally brought a Buddha to the hotel. Try to get a tour to learn more about this vast collection. The building faces the Mosel River with beautiful views and there is a lovely café and upstairs terrace in the rose garden.

If you only do one trip from Enkirch go to a Traben Trarbach - it is only 3 miles down the river. When you're there please go and visit the Buddha museum. It is restful, interesting and beautiful - even if you have never had an interest in Buddhism. Go to the roof garden and breathe in the brilliant view of the river and surrounding hills. Bliss

The museum has thousands of Buddha statues from so many different countries, generally grouped in the museum by country of origin. The statues are amazing and they are displayed beautifully. If you just want to see a lot of Buddha statues, you will really enjoy this museum. If you want to learn about Buddhism or Buddhist iconography, you will be disappointed. There are few, it any descriptions with any level of detail. There are a few reading stands holding poorly-made plastic binders containing pictures and drearily boring text, which fails to inform. Such a shame - this could be a fantastic place if someone took the time to curate it in ways that allowed the visitor to explore and learn. At 15 euros per person, I would give it a miss, personally.

In Protestant Germany, seat of the reformation, this unexpected and beautiful collection of Buddhas from around the world is staggering in it's size and literally glows with the energy of the Bodisatvas.
The museum is gorgeous, organized to allow understanding of both the meaning behind each figure and the region from which it came and lit to provide a natural feel to the displays.
I had no idea such a place existed and had only 25 minutes in which to try to absorb as much as possible from a collection that would require at least 25 hours to fully appreciate, but to my delight I was personally escorted through the museum by it's curator, Lydia Unger who led me to the most important elements of the collection, explained their significance and also gave me an excellent brochure in English.
At 15 euros I considered this collection a bargain and my happy discovery of this treasure a highlight of my European vacation.
This place is a gem and in my opinion, a must-see!

An amazing place …wonderful collection ,sometimes you have to stop and study all that wonderful detail on individual figurs there is a lot of information available too in writing and verbally (limited guided tours available I was told)
I would recommend it 100% but I watched some people walking through the museum without giving any attention to detail like they were in a rush to get to the finishing line …very strange….

Interesting collection of Buddhas from around Asia. Free entrance if you stay at Parkschloesschen. However, may be boring if Buddhas are not your thing.

We went into the lobby, found out it was 15€ to enter. Yes, they have a fascinating collection of over 2,000 Buddhas, but I have been to many museums and galleries throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and even though this museum is unique and interesting, I can't see how they justify charging those prices.

We visited on a blazing hot day in August. It would have been helpful to have signage in English but we can't complain too much as it was in Germany. Great to see so many Buddhas from around the globe and learn about their meanings. The roof terrace was beautiful.

In the middle of Wine and Catholicism, the Buddha Museum stands out as an anomaly on the tourist landscape. It seems incongruous, but the building an is old Winery and the museum a beautiful testament to one man's desire to bring a piece of Asia to this beautiful part of the world. There are over 2000 Buddhas in the museum, including one of the oldest ever found and the smallest as per the Guiness book of records. The museum is a stunning building and is in itself worth seeing. The roofgarden has wonderful views of the Mosel and is an absolute delight on a summer's day, as are the people who work there, friendly and helpful. A must for the novice and the devout Buddhist alike. I thoroughly enjoyed the museum.
