About
The museum presents a representative selection of contemporary art from the Collection of entrepreneur Peter Schaufler (†) and his wife Christiane Schaufler-Münch on more than 6,000 square meters. In order to convey an impression of the collection's diversity, its holdings are presented in changing special exhibitions. The Schaufler Collection reflects important developments in German and international art over the past fifty years. Works by the ZERO movement and its precursors are among the the collector's earliest acquisitions. Other focuses include Minimalism, Conceptual Art, and Concrete Art. Important historical positions, such as those of Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, and Hanne Darboven, are represented as well as current works by artists who have continued these strans of developent up to the present. In addition to painting and sculpture, light art, installations, and contemporary photography occupy an important place in the collection.

Contemporay art at its best

A ten- minutes' walk from the S-Bahn and you can dive into excellent contemporary art. A former factory turned into a fantastic art gallery. This is the art collection of former factory owner and founder of the Schaufler Foundation. No cafe or tea room there but across the street is a huge frniture market with a cafe on top.

From what I gather it was an old factory that was converted into a museum. the building itself is beautiful and there are some great modern art on display. Well worth the visit when you are in Sindelfingen.

What a surprise. Really worth the very small ride to get there

Begin with the architecture. It's an old factory converted into a "small" private museum. The collector, Peter Schaufler, who passed away, has brought together what reminded me of a Flick Collection for modern/contemporary art.
It is absolutely beautiful and the staff and guides were perfect.
A great plus, just sign a piece of paper committing not to use your photographies for commercial purposes and you are free to take your pictures.
By all means go, take the kids, take everyone.

Built upon what was once a production hall of the BITZER Sindelfingen factory, SCHAUWERK is an amazing place and exhibits personal pieces of the Scheufler family's personal art collection. Definitely worth a look.
