Ludwigsburg has three castles, next to the Residenzschloss also Favorite and Monrepos as manisons for the duke's favorite women. If you have some time and like to walk, cross the park Favorite and walk up to Monrepos.

This place is magical. This castle is surrounded by a beautiful, breathless garden with animals such as deers, squirrels and ducks. The garden made us feel calm, composed and in the moment. Inside this castle has so much history, from dancing room to bedroom to the little cabinet rooms.

I would like to give special appreciation to Cynthia. We had questions and she took time to explain some of the history to us. From her explanation, I learned so much about this castle. For that, I am very grateful! Because without her, we wouldn't even know anything about this castle. Take you, Cynthia, for taking us back to history, for taking us back in time. With her, we relive the castle history.

Highly suggest you visit this place and don't forget to walk around the garden!

Ludwigsburg is a city with several castles nestled around the slopes around Neckar River and its banks.
Schloss Favorite with its distinct orange is picture perfect with lush greenery surrounding it.

Just letting everyone know, this place is still closed for renovation. According to the website, it is closed for this calendar year (2019). So, if you visit Ludwigsburg, don't expect to be able to see this place until it reopens.

The entrance of the park is free. Just behind the palace. There are quite some dears who are tame and approachable. One can buy 2euros food for the dear. The building is under construction and no visit is possible now.

Just to let people know, it’s all covered up and under renovation. You can still walk in the park, but you will only see a building that is totally covered by tarps.

The building itself looks small and cosy. It's just across the street, opposite the back yard of Ludwigsburg Palace. Although the schoss is nice, the park is what grabbed my attention - friendly deers, living undisturbed and peaceful glades....

The Favorite Palace can be seen from the back of the Residence Palace. It is just a quick walk across the street. It is located on what is now a wildlife preserve. We did not take time to explore the grounds but enjoyed walking around the Palace. It was not open for tours when we were there.

The Schloss Favorite is an average schloss with very very nice tour guide and receptionist. There is guided tour (in German or in English if all member agrees) in every 30 minutes. The surrounding park is a very well place for picnic or walk.
