We visited Beamish in August and it was extremely busy. There was a queue out of the building and up the bank. The ticket prices are good as they last for a full year!! Beamish is very spread out and because it was so busy we couldnt get on any trams or busses so ended up walking miles. There arent... More

We loved the festive atmosphere visiting Beamish at the end of November. The traditional decorations really got us in the mood for Christmas and we loved the ice skating and other traditional rides to add extra fun to the day. We walked the circular route of the setting as we had the dog with us, but it was a fun... More

An excellent day out with very realistic reconstructions of life in the industrial north of England. We spent several hours visiting the different areas such as the farm , mine , school, and village , and in each area it is very easy to imagine that you have walked into the past. The ( often volunteer ) guides who were... More

Beamish is a fantastic place to immerse yourself in history. Set in a beautiful part of County Durham, it simply cannot be seen in a day, however, this doesn't matter as your ticket is valid for repeat visits for a year. The traditional fish and chip shop is worth a visit, however, beware, it gets very busy so get there... More

We were fortunate to meet a volunteer at Beamish, a retired miner called Denis Horseman who enthusiastically gave my friend and I a most interesting and insightful tour of the Beamish Museum. We stopped for lunch at the cafeteria in the town too. It was a fantastic day out, both enjoyable and educational, and put to bed any misconceptions we... More

This open air museum is a really great place to visit and with all of the staff wearing period costumes it let's you see what life was like in years gone by, there are several areas that feature different aspects of life in a variety of time periods, with more buildings and areas being added all the time. There is... More

I first visited Beamish when you could just walk into the area ! I've watched it grow - brick by brick. Beamish have very cleverly created atmosphere that can transport you. Go and feel this for yourself. I am a frequent visitor. Wonderful reminder of the hard working miners.

There is so much to tell about Beamish and you do need the whole day to see it. I loved the reconstructed town with shops, photographer (you can book one in a costume of the time), garage, newsagent, etc. It's great for all ages and we can't wait to go back and take the grandchildren next time. I especially love... More

We've been going to Beamish whenever we visited home for over 20 years, and when we moved back to the North East we made a real effort to go more often - they even provide wheelchair accessible transport around the museum - when we went to visit Santa there in 2015 we found our tickets were valid for a year...
