SilverStar is a wonderful destination for an on snow holiday. While small, the village is very pretty, like out of a Christmas movie. Plenty of snow, long runs and not at all crowded. On many runs, we didn’t see any other people, it was like we had the run to ourselves! We skied straight onto the lifts on pretty much every run. There are many other onsnow activities as well. Have a look on their website.
Virtually no information was available online about gluten free food when I was booking the trip and I was a bit worried. It turns out that this has been the best gluten free snow holiday I have ever had! Canadian Superstore and Butcher Boys in Vernon both stock gluten free bread, soup, biscuits, muffins and even waffles. Shop there on your way from the airport or use the twice weekly guest shuttle to Vernon. Be aware that oats are considered gluten free in Canada. I didn’t see any gluten free food (except fresh produce) in the onsnow Lord Aberdeen supermarket which is tiny. However, all the restaurants we ate at had an excellent range of delicious gluten free options - The Den, The Grand Cafe, The Red Antler, 1609 and Paradise Camp. Also, Bugaboos cafe has two types of gluten free cake. We didn’t try the other restaurants in the village. We went on both the snowcat dinner tour to Paradise Camp and the Wild Horseman dinner tour, both provided delicious gluten free meals.
If you’re gluten free and looking for a snow holiday in Canada, SilverStar is snow and gluten free heaven,

The food was AMAZING. I have a food allergy and felt confident that the serving staff took it seriously, and the cooks prepared the most delicious meal! All the staff were so lovely.

Our snowcat operator Kerry was so engaging & had the best personality – everyone loved him. He clearly loves his job & went above and beyond to make sure we had a very memorable experience.

We did the Sleighride dinner tour at Silverstar twice last year & have nothing but great things to say about that as well! We still talk about how amazing the ribs were!

Silver Star might be a smaller resort compared to many, but the skiing is still epic. The Putnam Creek area is full of good blue runs and some really good groomed black runs. The runs out here are also quite long, so you can rack up kilometers. The front side is more green and lesser blue runs. Still on the long side though. Ski school has a good bunch of older instructors, which I feel is a great benefit and well worth asking for.

Recently purchased by a crappy US company called POWDR. They closed the resort without notice on the first day of spring break. Refused to provide any compensation for the 3 weeks lost on our passes. Ordered all staff off of the mountain within the week while misleading the public that they intended to reopen after 1 week. I wouldnt risk booking a vacation here to have POWDR close and not provide compensation. Seriously book with SunPeaks or BigWhite, they value their customers and treat them better than SilverStar does.

Thanks for your feedback. Our closure due to the global pandemic was abrupt and unfortunate, however the safety of our guests and staff is of utmost important to us. Because of our swift actions we were able to get our staff and guests home to their families safely with no incidents and ahead of airports and borders closing. We understand that some guests felt our actions were unnecessary, however we felt given the circumstances, putting everyone's health and safety first was the right decision. We have issued vouchers to all passholders and POW passholders. If you haven't received yours please contact us at tickets@skisilverstar.com. If you want to share more about your experience or speak to someone directly, please contact us at social@skisilverstar.com.

Customer service is quite poor at Silverstar. I could give many examples but the most recent is when we brought a group of kids up there for a birthday party. I called ahead for ticket pricing as it wasn't clear online. They had to check with their manager as they couldn't find it either. When we arrived at the mountain, they charged us 33% more than we were quoted and said that I'd have to contact to management as nobody was around. I emailed their customer service department and didn't even get a response. I could give more similar examples but would recommend either Big White, Apex or Sun Peaks if you are planning a trip to the interior of BC.

I had been excited to check out SilverStar’s mountain biking trails for a while and was extremely disappointed when I finally had the chance. What a let-down, especially when it touts it’s own achievements so highly. I’ve been on locally maintained trails that are in better condition and not had to pay to ride them. The braking bumps were really bad on every single trail except the pro lines. The trails looked like nobody has been up-keeping them at all, let alone for a bike park. Waste of money. I’d rather donate to locally maintained trails every day of the week. Not to mention the jump lines... if you can even call them that...I’d have enough speed to barely clear a jump and then get catapulted 10ft past the transition a second later on the next. It was the most poorly designed “progression park” I can imagine. We maybe made 6-7 lifts up for the day as it was so crowded that the lift line extended to the bottom of the runs. I would be embarrassed to have such an arrogantly written website if my mountain was in this shape. 1 extra star for the staff, who were all fantastic.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The resort is small with 4 main restaurants, bakery/ cafe, a pub, a grocery/ off- license a pizza place and a couple of shops. Eating out was ok compared to UK prices. The shops were ok. The skiing was good with lovely snow. Ski lifts had very short queues though we noticed that the weekend was very busy. We used the Kelowna concierge transfer from the airport to the resort which was very good, prompt and delivered us door to door. Ski hire and ski passes were easy to organise. All staff very helpful.

My wife and I stayed two nights with our friends in their condo. It has been many years since I had last been to Silverstar, and I must say I was impressed. While, we were here during the summer, we could tell, how this resort was well suited for winter skiing and other winter activities. We had a chance to ride the gondola, and the view from above was impressive. Personally I was surprised how well developed Silverstar was, yet it remains to be smaller than other resorts.

What sets this resort apart from others, was the close proximity to all the services in Vernon.

Highly recommend this resort.

Had an amazing day at SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon, BC recently. It is a wonderful ski hill with a great village and a really good vibe. The snow this year is abundant (and it snowed all day when we were there). Enjoyed delicious pulled chicken poutine for lunch at The Den and skied over 7,000 verticals metres for the day over the varied terrain. Steeps, glades, cruising, etc. The mountain has something for everyone! A beer at Long John’s capped the day off perfectly!

Small family skiing resort that is a fairytale to the eyes for Aussies! But before I forget the cost of ski hire at the ‘resort’ is 2-2.5 times what you pay in Oz - it’s grossly expensive & absurd. Not sure if this is a BC thing but it’s so expensive it’s more than the cost of the ski gear. Warning - buy in Oz & fly direct with your own gear
