Amazing resort Service can be hit and miss
Big white os just awesome, until you want to get lunch or a dring at the Clock Tower cafe or Black forest lodge. THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. Must be losing revenue as the staff have one speed only and that appears to be only very slow, or maybe hangover slow. In distinct need of a kick up the backside, how can Big White allow such lazy, uncaring staff to tarnish an otherwise great resort's reputation.

Unsafe advice from local staff. Amazing area but could be so much better.
Resort staff are generally in a different world and view guests as an inconvenience to their own winter adventure. This was clear in a number of restaurants and when lift operators were texting on phones whilst skiers boarded the lifts. But never more clear than when a lift closed and the operator decided to advise us to cut through glades to get back to a run and then the car park. This resulted in 2 hours spent trekking through deep snow and dangerously close to steep drops before we got to safety. We were just glad it remained daylight etc. we are both qualified ski instructors and even we felt in danger. It’s not true to say you can go anywhere and ski any part of this mountain and it’s not safe to listen to lift operators here. We advised resort management who thanked us but didn’t even apologise..poor!

Big White Has Really Gone Downhill (pun intended)
The cost saving techniques are very apparent. First thing I found is that all phones have been removed. So if your cell phone doesn't work in Canada, good luck. Once you get in your room, you can use free wi-fi for your phone, but if the front desk gives you the wrong room key, you are stuck out in the hall. I found a friendly Canadian man who let me use his phone to call registration and they sent somebody with the correct key. The best cafe on the hill, Ridge Rocket Cafe, is now closed, so there is only one on- hill cafe, Back Forest, which has drastically cut back their menu choices. Their soda dispenser was out of order all week. Their restroom hand driers were broken and there were no paper towels. The Gun Barrel restaurant, (my favorite) is gone so there is one less place for dinner. They no longer have tissue dispensers at the chair lifts. I have been going to BW for 25 years for ski vacations. No more!

This does not reflect on the hill itself. Great hill but horrible ticket process. DO NOT BUY tickets from Central Reservations (CR). And DO NOT trust the ticket office. We got the run around 3 times from the ticket office and in the end after we went back again they sold us the wrong tickets. Once we found out they sold us the wrong thing we went back to the ticket office and they still were not all on the same page. They said we should have instead bought a Biggie pass in Kelowna. Tix from CR cannot be added to online if you want another day even though 2 of 3 people at the ticket office said otherwise. Don’t use central reservations or the ticket counter for your big white ski tickets. We’ll be back to Big White but learn from our lessons. Sounds like Biggie pass is the way to go. Another family with us bought their tix online and had no problem adding a day via online and were able to use the tickets for night skiing (unlike us) but ticket office didn’t think that was possible. So online may be an option too, but per the nice kid at ticket booth the best value is the Biggie pass bought in Kelowna.

Good Morning, We have obviously failed you in the role of Marketing and Salespeople. We have a number of programs that are heavily discounted if you purchase your tickets before you arrive on the mountain. To that end, a Biggie card, which can be purchased in many locations in Kelowna, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary, could have saved you up to $50 a day when you pre-purchase and pre-load. Online tickets pre-purchased before peak pricing would have allowed you regular-season pricing during your visit. That does not excuse the lack of information you received from our Team Members. Let me know when you want to return, and I will be happy to provide you with complimentary skiing during your first day of the visit. I can be reached at mballingall@bigwhite.com

A lovely family friendly ski resort with plenty to do and see.

Hire a snowboard/ ski or take lessons all available at Central Village.

Friendly staff from all over the world which makes for an interesting holiday when they are all from different places.

Stores for ski gear, bottle shop, clock tower cafe all in one central place with great service from all the staff.

Plenty of restaurants to dine at plus great hot chocolate at the Clocktower Cafe.

Tubing is great fun along with the Gondola to take you to and from Happy Valley to Central Village Mall.

In all a beautiful place to holiday and thank you to all the staff who made it such an enjoyable trip.

Just a tip be nice to the young staff most of who are on working visas and without the hundreds of young people doing this there would be no resort for you to enjoy as the amount of staff to run this place is enormous.

We saw one Australian couple having a go at a young staff member over the stupidest of things... if you are the “entitled” type of traveler or wanting some posh type of holiday lacking in friendly conversation and service then may need to look at a smaller resort.

In all a bucket list holiday !

We travelled to Big White in July for a 5 day
hiking trip. The trails were marvelous and varied with great views. We hiked during the week and were surprised as to how quiet the trails were, we passed very few fellow hikers.
The chairlift only operates Thursday to Sunday, we enjoyed the smooth running chairlift. The biking trails were more popular than the hiking trails.

When we arrived on a Tuesday the Village felt like a Ghost Town, very few holidayers but lots of constuction. Unfortunately the sereneity was ruined by the sound of heavy trucks at 7am and the following hammering at other sites.
It was all okay as when you climbed the mountain it was serene.

The Village was disappointing as only a few restaurants were operational in the summer, and then only Thurdsay to Sunday with limited hours.
For the most part the restaurants were average with a limited menu, the Global and the Woods were our best experiences.

The biggest disappointment was the Market, not at all like it's web page. The pictuerd deli was completely empty,no fresh pizza only a few sausage rolls and meat pies sitting under a heat lamp. The vegetable selection was of poor quality and very sparse, the only bread was Dempsters white.
I am glad we planned ahead brought food with us.

Our accomadation at the Inn at Big White was basic, large , clean and resonably priced. the cooking facilities are limited but functional. The Inn has a nice outdoor pool.

I would rate the hiking trails, location anf chairlift as 5 stars.
The Village I rate as 3 stars.

We’ve been there on Sunday, Family Day long weekend. It was super busy!
The resort is really pretty and has a nice atmosphere. My husband went skiing and I registered for a snowboarding lesson.
The lesson could have been better, I saw people with other teachers having more fun and having more progress, but my instructor was a nice person.
The lesson is the average price, but the lift ticket is very expensive comparing to other ski resorts.
Overall we had a good time.

Great family ski resort!! Loved staying right on the hill. It’s very family friendly. Lots of runs for all levels of skiers or boarders. Any dealings we had with staff were very accommodating and helpful. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Only areas that could use a little improvement- kids ski school. We found it abit chaotic and disorganized and the lunch provided for the kids had no protein and wasn’t kid friendly. So I’d recommend packing something if your kids are doing a full day. That being said you didn’t have to prebook they can accommodate a lot of kids! And all our kids loved their instructors.

This is my third and last visit to Big White. I’ve been here three days so far and stopped after one run on two of those because of terrible visibility. Tomorrow’s forecast is even worse than today’s. On a good day the terrain and snow are great for an intermediate skier, the staff are friendly, and most of the resort is ski-in ski-out (except Sundance which you can’t easily ski back to). On a bad day, there’s really nothing to do, and with the collapse of the Silver Star recip and shuttle you’re basically stuck here. I know skiing is weather dependent and nothing is guaranteed anywhere; however, BW appears to have a real and pervasive fog problem that makes it less reliable than many other places. I don’t think my experience this time is simply bad luck since other people warned me about this, and the resort’s nickname is Big White Out. Stay away unless you’re fine with skiing in extremely limited visibility (I mean almost zero) or you’re going to be here for at least a couple of weeks and can afford the down time. You can probably improve your chances of having decent conditions by skiing somewhere else.

Paul, I am sorry to hear of your displeasure regarding our weather. Sometimes all I can do is shrug my shoulders. We have had over 125cm of snow during the holiday period, and when your base is at 5500ft. above sea level, it comes with some visibility challenges. We know some people will choose cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice-skating, tubing, dog-sledding, ice-climbing, horse-drawn sleighs, or indoor activities when they are not comfortable with our conditions. Having worked on the resort since 1985 we have tried to figure out grooming, on-mountain signage and glading in Black Forest and the West Ridge to help out low-cloud conditions. The benefit is the snow that comes with it. Unfortunately, we don't win every day but I am sure you will agree that when visibility is good, which is more often than not, the Resort is an excellent sliding experience. I hope you come back, and if you don't please continue skiing as we all know how enjoyable it is! Stay tuned, as there will be more terrain to the East in years to come. Enjoy 2020! Michael J.

Our family trip to Big White Ski Resort checked all the boxes! The flight from Toronto to Kelowna was easy, the Big White shuttle service greeted us at the airport and brought us right to our ski in/out condo on the mountain. Even after Air Canada lost our luggage, the Big White Central Reservations team was there to save the day! They worked with the airport luggage team and our bags arrived hours later so we could experience the amazing snow conditions that first day.

Although it was a busy Christmas season at the resort, the lift lines were minimal, but the village was always buzzing with activity. Skiers taking a latte break while admiring the Okanogan views, parents dropping off kids at ski school, and people shopping for the famous Big White toques - which was a must for our kids who will wear them proudly at school back in Toronto.

The fun filled days on the slopes ended with relaxing soaks in the hot tub or a game of pool in the condo common room, while our kids, with their endless energy, hit the skating rink and the tube park in the evenings.

The worst part of our trip was leaving, but we’ll be back!

Stayed right near the village, and received good service in regard to equipment hire and lift tickets. Snow conditions were excellent during our stay. The only disappointment was too few dining options, particularly at night. We had dined at The Woods on previous stays, but it was closed during our week there, and we had a bad experience at the Black Diamond Grill and The Globe menu was limited. We ended up eating lunch or dinner at the Bullwheel on at least 4 occasions and enjoyed all our meals there.

Big White is a 45 minute drive from Kelowna and is located in a snow belt. When I arrived, the snowbanks in the town were two stories high. The snow on the hills was feather light, so called champagne snow
Favourite runs were Blue Sapphire, down to the Gem chair and Black Forest where you can weave between the trees
