Big White Mountain Ski Resort Get-Away
Mar 2021
After packing our car, the four of us and our dogs left for a three day/two night stay at Big White Mountain Resort. During the almost two hour drive from Penticton, the surroundings changed from no snow, a sparkling lake and spring-like weather to a setting where everything was covered in a thick, soft and fluffy blanket of snow. The road had a number of curves and switchbacks but had been cleared of snow making our trip to higher elevations a safe one. As we drove along, we were awed by the spectacular, snow-covered scenery. Although the major activity is skiing (Big White offers 118 runs, serviced by high-speed lifts), there are other fun things to do including snow boarding, snow shoeing, ice climbing, dog sled rides, horse-drawn sleigh rides, snow mobiling, snow coaster and a snow limo ride. Many different types of accommodations are offered including hotels, condos, private chalets, cabins, town houses, bed/breakfasts and hostels. Fireworks happen on Saturday nights.

RENTERS USE CAUTION

LAURINDA KALAWARY CHALET OWNER SNOW PINE ESTATES
Refusing to refund $1000.00 CAD damage deposit
Was going to stay 5 nights over XMAS 2020(14people) had to cancel(36DAYS PRIOR TO OCCUPANCY) due to COVID-19concerns & Govern mandated travel& social gathering restrictions which were later extended past our occupancy time.
Big White didn't want people from outside local Okanagan area. They would be unable to get lift, rental tickets or accommodations, We are from the Fraser Valley
What to expect: unanswered phone and e-mails, if you do receive one the answer would be rude.
Don't want other people to go thru this experience.
This situation still hasn't been resolved & have not received any DAMAGE DEPOSIT REFUND

Great Family Experience
Dec 2020
Our 2 and 5 year old daughters loved it! A special part of our Christmas at Big White. We did the half hour tour and the girls wished we did the longer one.

My wife needed new skis and Ollie provided experts advice and a great price for K2s and bindings. Within one hour the bindings were mounted and we were back skiing

A Cautionary Tale
Mar 2020
Back in March, we were torn. The health minister said come to BC and visit ski resorts but COVID was holding us back. We called the resort and they said all good. We got on the plane and by the time we arrived 8 hrs later, they closed the hill. That in itself sucked. We went to Central Reservations next day and they said no activities open at the resort. Fine. We hunkered down. On Thursday we go check out the tubing hill. Lo and behold, snow mobiling and snow sleds were open. Bottom line is be wary of anything Central Reservations tells you... Two stars for helping us out to get a ride into town to fix our plane ticket.

Made the best of a crappy situation
Jul 2020 • Friends
We went DH biking opening weekend of 2020. There was 4 in our group. We were hanging out and KRIS, their manager was patrolling the mountain that day. He ride up to us and started yelling at us about Covid and Social distancing like we were idiots, even dropping a few "Jesus Christ" bombs. I told him us 4 were together, drove up together and this is our bubble. He then feeling like a dummie just ride away with no apology. He did this to us 3 times. Getting the same response all times. We spoke to a few other bikers, they all complained about him.... KRIS has a very miserable and unfriendly face. His personality and peoples skills match his mellon perfectly. He is a shirt little fella too and I am sure he suffers from little persons syndrome. When the shortest fella in a room is given power, they tend to abuse it, this is KRIS. There are different ways you can approach a group to get your answers. He chose the worst and least friendly way possible. Big White has been our go to summer and winter. We are officially done spending any money there, all courtesy of KRIS. the bike park is still being built and right now sucks if you are a strong intermediate or advanced rider.

Great Accessibility
Mar 2020
Having been skiing in the Alps many times I was surprised at how accessible this resort was in comparison to other ski resorts. We were actually staying with family in Kelowna and originally had no intention of visiting Big White, however they booked a place for the weekend and seeing as it was no more than a 40 minute drive from Kelowna we were more than happy to go! If you were arriving at the airport (YLW) it would probably take no longer than an hour, and the route up is perfectly fine (unless there has been extensive snowfall).
The chalet we stayed in was excellent and the staff keep the paths and general area very well maintained; clearing paths before sunrise and ensuring everything is clean. The village is very nice as well, we ate at Snowshoe Sam's which had good food and good service, and we visited the Village Centre in the evening for a children's event as we were with family, and they were serving popcorn and candy floss free of charge, and had plenty of free entertainment for the kids.
In terms of skiing, there appeared to be a great number of routes all easily accessible via the chairlifts, and plenty of instructor-led classes where any ability is welcome and can practice and learn. We went tubing which was great fun and very relaxed while still being safe which I greatly enjoyed! The snow depth when we visited (early March) was also beyond adequate, there were no bare-patches/dirty-snow etc.
This is a ski resort I would certainly like to return to in the future, both for the skiing and entertainment aspect, but also because the staff (most of whom seemed to be Australian) were awesome.

The Best Ski Resort!!!
Feb 2020
I've never seen so much snow!! This is by far the best ski resort I've been to. For such a big resort its so well run and organized. Staff is from all over the world (mostly New Zealand it seems), but everyone is friendly and helpful. Its a huge place and you really need few days to truly enjoy it. The lift tickets are cheap in comparison to other places out there and conditions were amazing. If you ski or board, this is a must!! We stayed at one of the condo's at the resort and they are amazing.. ski to the front doors and everything is easily accessible. Lots of restaurants and bars, lifts were not busy but the snow..... such a great time.
