About
The ornithological and botanical park of Clères presents more than 1300 animals mostly free roaming. Created in 1919 by Jean Delacour a french naturalist, the zoo is located in a romantic 19th century wooded park that surrounds a castle dating mainly from the Renaissance. This place offers, all year round, various activities and events for the whole family.

Great way to spend a couple of hours
Sep 2019
It took us about 2 hours to walk around the whole park, with our two year old daughter zigzagging along the path. We went mid-week on a drizzly day but it was still a good place to go in this weather. We had the place practically to ourselves.

There are plenty of animals and birds to look at. All quite used to humans. The gardens are lovely and its a pleasant walk around the lake.

Toilets were decent, the gift shop and cafe/kiosk were closed when we went but there are plenty of good options for food and drinks in the village about five minutes walk us the road. There is a decent picnic area just over the road from the parc.

When you arrive in Cleres there are signs leading up to the parc but where to park was not immediately obvious, at least to us. The parking is in fact right outside the front gate on the main road but there are no signs to tell you that. Its all free parking and if coming from the North then the parking bays start just after the main entrancement gate and bus stops.

A GOOD WALK AND VALUE FOR MONEY
Aug 2018
Very much worth a visit, we went on Saturday morning and it was very quiet, however, driving past the Parc de Cleres during the week it was very busy. Lots of animals to look at and a good walk. No more than 40 Euros for five of us, jackpot, value for money.

A really nice Parc
Aug 2018
We visited with our two daughters, 15 & 18 years old, and we all really enjoyed this place. It's beautifully laid out and very peaceful.
Lots of the animals are free to roam about and even though it's mainly birds, there is more then enough to keep you interested.

Well worth a visit
Aug 2018 • Family
Parking on road but ample. Not a busy road but parking wraps around a blind corner. We got in / out safely. Price a little high but it’s not often you can get so close to animals and birds which the kids really enjoyed. Hard going pushing a stroller around on the gravel paths. If you visit on sunny days 70% of the paths are under tree cover which is excellent. No food that I saw however plenty of options in town (v close). 9/10

We visited this place with a two year old and was pleasantly surprised. It's a nice mix of avaries with exotic birds and semi wild animals roaming around freely. It's a very relaxed place with lovely paths around the place especially around the lake. Benches are located around the paths. Although there isn't a coffee shop here there are pleasant picnic benches near to the gift shop. A microwave and coffee machine is supplied. There are also two toilets. You can hire buggies here. Parking is on the road outside but we parked very close by and it was free.
There is a lovely little picnic area opposite the park and several eateries in the village a few minutes walk away.
I would allow a couple of hours to visit here and I would definatley look to visit here again when we were in that area.

Beautiful zoological park
May 2018 • Family
Extensive parkland house a wide range of birds, deer, wallabies etc. that all roam freely. Also a number of other birds and small mammals in enclosures. Easy to spend a pleasant day wandering around the grounds.

A lovely place to visit - not just for children either! Glad to see they combine visitor attractions with looking after these wonderful animals. The red panda is gorgeous - push the kids out of the way to see feeding time. Up close to wallabies, peacocks, deer and more ducks than I knew existed. The architecture is stunning too. Near a free aire so bring your camping - car/autocaravana/motorhome.

Hidden treasure

I would rate this zoo parc as a must do if you are in the area. The €8 Euro or so entry each is well worth it in spectacular grounds and for the diversity if wildlife you see there. From Flamingos, to monkeys to wallabies to prancing peacocks, it has it all. Good selection of flora and fauna too. The kids will love this place and great for a couple of hours of wandering. Dissapoining that there is no coffee shop on site, just a coffee machine near the small but stocked gift shop but a few good eateries a stones throw away in the pretty village of Clères itself

Great park with small kids
Jul 2017 • Family
Animal parks are always great with kids. What makes this one different from the standard is not the collection, which is quite small, but the fact that the animals live semi-free. We spend about 2 hours walking around in the park.

Tip: Across from the animal park, is a small park where you can eat your picnic and at the back of the parc is a small minotours maze made by the local school. Be sure to visit if you have small children.

A park with potential
Sep 2016 • Friends
This zoological / botanic park is situated in the beautiful village of Cleres, a little off the beaten track. We visited as part of our cycle ride up from Rouen.
Both the gardens and the animal areas are still being developed, but it was still an interesting visit, with lots of birds to identify.
The chateau, allegedly housed Joan of Arc, but this is still subject to conjecture!
The grounds are extensive with some higher ground giving good vistas of the park.
We ate in the village, and were offered vouchers for free access to this site.
