Becoming a little pricey, like many things.
An excellent camping spot! But I learned that they are now charging per person for all persons 3 years old and older. This makes it expensive, @$10 per person, for families with two or more children, unpowered sites. We also had to pay a 1.5% fee on a debit card. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, but didn't visit the zoo.

    Up close and personal!
I'd been to the Park many times before and always enjoyed it but I'd never done an animal encounter before so I decided to do the Meerkat Encounter. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I had hoped they might come close enough for me to pat - I wasn't expecting them to jump into my lap! I hand fed them mealworms and got to pat them - it was such a wonderful humbling experience (nearly had me in tears). The keeper, Michaela, was fantastic. So friendly and so knowledgeable - answering my questions and also giving me an insight into the amazing little creatures that meerkats are. I've always loved meerkats but after that experience I'm absolutely besotted with them. Highly recommend it to young and old!

Not a lot to do in Bernie so this is a good option.
Was on a cruise ship and booked the tour that included the bus ride. The guide on the bus did not provide much commentary on the drive. The park itself is rather small but contains a lot of wild life. The feeding of the Tasmanian devils was cool to see and it was fun to feed the Kangaroos. The bus driver told us to be back at the bus at a 15 minutes past the hour but did not show up to open the bus for 20 minutes which was extremely rude. Then when the bus was finally open they waited another 20 minutes for some missing passengers. The place is small enough that this could have been handled a lot better.

    Fabulously wonderful experience
Absolutely loved it!! We had lunch at the cafe and the food was fabulous, staff were very friendly and helpful; even when they had me, a screaming tourist run through with a wasp chasing her! The animals were amazing and well cared for. The interactions we had with them were just the best and will be remembered forever, it's a credit to the park how friendly they are. It's a lot bigger than I thought and to have the camping and accommodation on site is fantastic. I give Wings Wildlife Park 5 stars and I'm glad we took the opportunity to visit. Thank you.
Thank you so much, we really appreciate you taking the time to complete a review. We hope you made so many wonderful memories that will last forever 💚

    Frosty but fantastic
Winter in Tasmania, frosty morning with ice still on roads and paddocks at 11am, didn’t get much above 6c in the valley while we were there. Pop, and three grandkids having a day together. Surprised them with a trip to Wings. Met by friendly, helpful staff, then for the park. Exhibits were among the best I’ve seen in Tasmania, albeit animals curled up under the heaters ( we weren’t!) most were visible including a couple of devils squabbling and a macaw saying “hello”. White wallabies and kangaroos liked being hand fed. Then to the cafe to warm up, hot chips and cheese toasty soon disappeared ( grandkids are vegetarian) . Coffee was nice. Farm walk followed, impressive bison and longhorn, and the usual agro emus. This is one of my longest reviews because I was so impressed. Thanks Wings

    Beautiful clean park.
Loved this park. Everything was neat and tidy and all the animals seem well cared for. I did the marmoset encounter and loved it. I highly recommend doing an encounter. The fish that you can feed when you first enter get a bit too excited, so stand back when you feed them.

A great wildlife park. They are a small outfit and definitely rely on tourism, mainly from cruise ships, but they do a good job managing the groups and we never felt crowded while we were there. The pens are very natural looking and it was great seeing the local animals, especially the Tasmanian Devils. They are deceptively cute!

There is a large kangaroo enclosure and you can feed and pet them if you wish. For additional fees, you can hold animals like a baby wallaby (not sure the $150 price tag is worth that - but you can decide for yourself).

There are some steep trails to navigate, so I wouldn't recommend if you have mobility issues. But if you want to see a variety of local and not-so-local birds, reptiles and mammals, I recommend this place.

Loved how you could get up close to the animals, they were easy to see. My grandson loved the kangaroos the best but he is only two and loved looking at all the other animals …. Over all I would highly recommend this place, we visited Tasmania Zoo today and it has nothing on Wings Wildlife Park

This place is awesome. Really loved it. Sure it is quite a way from everything and looks a bit of a ramshackle, however the animals here are well loved and looked after (we spoke to several of the staff and watched them caring for the animals), many have great enclosures to roam freely and there is focus on rehabilitation and conservation. It is divided into two halves - farm and wildlife zoo. We were there for 2-3 hours but could easily spend another hour or two (but we had to go). We didn't pay for any of the close encounters however you can feed the kangaroos and if you're around at feeding time the rangers there may even let you pet some of the animals - we got to shake finger/beak with Eddie the albino magpie. Fantastic place and a must see when visiting Tasmania. Well done!!!

Not a pleasant experience
My family went the for lunch and a wildlife visit and we had lunch first but that was enough to send us home.
We ordered our lunch and right away there was problems…..the menu was different to their POS so couldn’t get what we wanted, then we sat down and waited over 45 minutes for a chicken burger and chips and a kids nuggets and chips.
It arrived warm, not hot and tables that had ordered after us were getting served before us. A waitress came over and checked our order (as if they had forgotten) 20 minutes prior, and once served, no napkins, no forks for the salad and not a peep of sorry we were late.
As for the meal? I would have to say a complete rip-off. 3 nuggets and 10 chips, a small chicken burger with a side of chips and 2 drinks was $50.
I am speechless and the quality of food and the stingy serving we received, and the lack of trained staff was enough to make us leave and not recommend eating in this rip-off restaurant.
As for the park? Didn’t go in because of the way we were treated and stingy, expensive, late food we received.
Never again.
Bring your own food if you go there.

We love Wings Wildlife Park. Our children and grandchildren visited from Nsw so we took them to Wings Wildlife Park. We brought several encounters for the granchildren and adults to enjoy. We all had a fantastic day. The little ones had a lovely encounter with the baby animals. Amelia and her mum spent time with a wombat. The two grownups had an encounter with the meerkats. We all loved the feeding the kangaroos. Amelia was fascinated with the Devil talk. We then had an amazing lunch. Clean plates all round, which is always a good sign. After lunch we walked around the farm walk, checking out all the big animals, camels, Highland cows, emus, and ostriches just to name a few. Then the family hand fed the lambs and had so much fun. We had a fantastic day and made some terrific memories. The Staff made the whole experience so much better, they were very knowledgeable and nothing was to much trouble even when dealing with the little ones, just so patient. We want thank Wings Wildlife Park for a memorable day and special thanks to Nicole for her time and knowledge during our encounters, we had a wonderful day. Thankyou.

This was so upsetting. When we visited we learned there were 18 buses scheduled to visit as well as the caravaners camped on the property.
Upon departing the bus we were herded into the gift shop to purchase “experiences” with various animals (handling, petting, holding, pictures) from $45 and up and/or food for the kangaroos.
We know how stressful it is for animals to be handled so wouldn’t buy a package. We did spend $5 on the kangaroo food (seeds and pellets).
The enclosures are awful. The kangaroos are apathetic, don’t move when approached, drink filthy water and one was on the other side a fence, skinny and I gave all the food to him.
I feel this place needs to have authorities from a Humane Society inspect and shut down this so-called wildlife park.
No way I would recommend to anyone.

Upon disembarking the bus, you needed to go into the building to gain access to the wildlife park. From this point you can either head straight to see the animals, gain access to reception to book experiences, purchase kangaroo feed or collect a map or access to the café. You were more than welcome to sit out in the café area or outside dining and not follow the crowd (but the crowd were heading out to the wildlife park) – I’m not sure what other approach you would have preferred to have taken?? The day you visited was the Australia day long weekend, which is a very a popular camping weekend in Tasmania. It is always busy that weekend if the weather is fine. We monitor our hands-on encounters very closely. We have guidelines we introduced to ensure the animals do not get stressed etc, which cover how many people can visit at once, rest breaks, how much contact is allowed, if the animal can be picked up or just patted. Our animals are our babies and many hand-reared, we are not going to see or let them become stressed or uncomfortable. Our animals health & safety is our first priority. The $5 bag of kangaroo food came with a print souvenir bag that you were able to keep. These bags are part of a program we support “Empowering people with a disability’. We purchase them of a local business called Devonfield that employs people with a disability. There are signs on display explaining this. We are very proud to be a part of this program. Our enclosures are actually built to a bigger size then what our governing department states. Our keepers take great pride in the animal’s enclosures, making sure they are clean, tidy and animal enrichment is offered. The majority kangaroos have all been hand-raised as they were orphans, other joeys have been bred in captivity, and therefore they are very use to human contact and are not startled by visitors. If it’s a warm day, they will lazy in the sun and if they have been feed and are content. The ‘skinny’ kangaroo on the other side of the fence is a wild male (not a captive kangaroo of ours), he is there as he wants to get to the females that are in season. If he was to get inside the enclosure the alpha kangaroo would fight with him (and possibly kill him), which we would have been happy to educate you on if you had asked at the time of your visit. This kangaroo is old, we see him from time to time and he has an endless supply of food where he hops freely. He has become quiet as people keep feeding him, as they feel sorry for him not being in captivity. Please don’t get confused with animal bathing ponds and drinking water dishes, also something we could have explained at the time, if asked. We work very closely with our local vets and wildlife departments. We also have standards that we need to adhere too and routine checks. I hope this has cleared up your concerns.

We visited as part of a cruise ship tour and had a great time. As you enter, you have a chance to book (and separately pay for) to meet a number of animals. We managed to get a slot to meet a Koala, but you need to be ready to make a decision as everything has limited slots available (we were the first bus to arrive so were lucky to get a full choice). We had a great time walking around the park - the Tasmanian Devils were good to see up close (but not too close). However, we had 2 highlights. The first was meeting the Koala. The handler was with you at all times and we got some great pictures next to him. The second was feeding the kangaroos. You buy the food in reception, but there must be about 10 kangaroos in the enclosure which you can feed from your hand. They were all very friendly and surprisingly gentle. Our visit was fairly brief, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe most of the animals are rescued, so a worthy operation run by a local family for generations.

Thank you for the detailed review. We are glad you got to meet Lottie the koala. We have a duty of care to our animals, so we can only offer limited number of people to meet her and it’s important she has rest breaks etc on busy days to keep her happy & healthy. Our kangaroos are very quite as they have been bottle reared (orphans) and bred in captivity, so they are very use to people from an early age. Thanks again for your kind words and review.

Had a wonderful day that started with entry and tickets given by a friendly and informative staff member. We had a walk around enjoying the animals both native and farm.

Lunch was a treat and again we were served by happy and helpful staff and our food tasted fresh and delicious. We were surprised by the menu catering so well to gluten free, diary free and vegan patrons.

The day ended with the Tasmania devil feeding talk, which was definitely a highlight.

Thank you for visiting and completing a review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit. The devils are amazing to watch and hear them growl. Then get up close and Pat one (not over the fence 😳 but when booking an encounter). We have amazing chefs that like to have something available for all dietary requirements etc. thanks again.

We pre-booked a personal tour and animal encounter when we visited as part of a cruise ship excursion. Our tour guide was Jacob and he was fantastic!! He is incredibly knowledgeable and went into great depth about the animals and made sure we all got an opportunity to hold/pet the various animals (koala, devil, wombat, and kangaroo). He knew just how to “pose” us for that perfect shot. The only negative is that we didn’t have much time to wander on our own, but that is the cruise lines fault, not Wings Wildlife Park.

The feeding of the Devils was fascinating although a bit gruesome. My 10 yo grandson loved it.

My koala cuddle is a quintessential Australian experience and one of the highlights of my trip to date.

Thank you for the lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed all the hands-on encounters and cuddles. Lottie is such a sweetheart! I will be sure to share your review with Jacob (he will love it). We agree, the cruise ship visits are so rushed sometimes. We always tell them they need to let visitors have 2 hours onsite. Especially when you need to allow to go to the toilets on arrival and departure etc. thanks again for visiting and the review.

Great little park with well kept enclosures and good variety of native and exotic animals. The keepers we spoke to were informative and friendly. However, the front reception staff were not very welcoming and bordered on rude. They were really slow to acknowledge us and offered up no information about the park when we paid to go in. It would have been nice to have been given some direction from the start as with the inside doors shut it wasn't obvious where to go. We still had a good time it would just be nice to see some better customer service. Some additional feedback would be to put in some steps next to the fences so that that kids can view the animals without having to be picked up.
