Having walked down from the car park in town to the harbour, we'd already decided to take the Funiculaire back due to the steepness of the path - if the dog was allowed. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and for a euro each (the dog went for free) this was well worth the money (I'd have paid more). It was a bonus that the experience was an 'event' rather than just practical public transport. The view of the lake from the carriage (which itself is clean and well maintained) is lovely, and it is a bit quirky to use this mode of transport from yesteryear. Do it. It's fun :)

E1.80 return fare, friendly staff and scenic way to get ftom lake geneva to the centre of thonon or vice versa. Departs every 2 to 3 minutes each way.

The journey between the town centre & the port takes c5mins. I used the service a couple of times (in the upward direction) during the heatwave ... best 1.10€ I’ve ever spent! It’s free during certain special events ... check their website.

If you're in Thonon it's well worth a trip, it's €1 each one way - I'd recommend getting it up the hill and walking back down. There is a park area at the top but not much else

As we went on a hot and busy Sunday, this is the best way to go down to the activities by the Lake. By lunchtime the parking down the bottom is stuffed and so it means a long walk back along the water's edge from where you will finish up. Make sure you check the times, as you don't want to miss the last one back up! They had also closed it for lunch (siesta time!) the day we were there.

As there is no other quick pedestrian way to get to the harbor and ferry terminal, this is useful and essential transportation. Cost effective at 1 euro per ride, cheaper with multiple rides.

This is a must seen at Thonon-les-Bains.
This is best to use it to go up as it's relatively easy to walk down even with a pushchair.
The view is great!

It may be a short trip on this cable pulled rail carriage but it is definitely worthwhile due to the scenic and practical benefits.
It is cheap, and easy and links upper and lower Thonon which is well worth a wander.
A nice service provided by the town otherwise your alternative is quite a steep incline.

A fun (and cheap) ride either down to the lake or up to the center of town! Great for kids, elderly (the alternative is a pretty steep hill), and those who want to take some photos of the lake during the ride (about 45 seconds- 1 min long).

Mostly it’s transportation from the upper Thonon to the shore. It’s nicely painted, has glass window for the view, a cute ride.
