After a day out in Samoëns we drive up to the Col de Joux Plane where we had spectacular views in every direction. We enjoyed a dessert at the summit while gazing at the view . The meadow was filled with a chorus of cow bells

An 8km uphill drive from Samoens to the car park then a round trip walk of about 1.5 hrs. There's a large cross at the summit with great views over the valley and Samoens with Mont Blanc in the distance.
Walk up to the cafe for a drink and take in the lake. Well worth a visit!

The Bougeoise is a summit accessible from a couple of starting points. You can drive to Col de Joux Plan from either Samoens or Morzine (in summer or when the Col is open). From there it is about a 40 min easy walk. Returning to the start point there is a restaurant so a picnic is not essential. Book on busy high season days, it is very popular. Alternatively, drive from Samoens toward the Col and park just after the hamlet of Combe Emeru. From there, take a marked walking trail which is a stiff, but not difficult, climb to the summit - you will be rewarded. Lots of parapenters use La Bourgeoise as a launch point, so enjoy seeing them take off. Continue on for 30 mins to the Col and lunch! Walking map IGN 3530ET. Walking book, Patrice GAIN - Vallee du Haut Giffre. This is in French but describes many excellent walks in the area.

A walk up to La Bourgeoise will afford fantastic views across to Mont Blanc and down the Giffre Valley; your efforts are certainly rewarded. Don't be put off if there is low cloud in Samoëns - the last time I went up we had a fantastic inversion and were in brilliant sunshine.
There is a relatively easy snowshoe trail from the Col de Joux Plane - this becomes a walking path in the summer - or for more of a challenge you could walk up from the approach road at Sur les Chables.
And as a reward you can treat yourself to Vin Chaud or coffee - or maybe more - at Le Ralais des Vallees.

This is a great shortish walk. It doesn’t require fitness or poles- but the view at the lookout is as good as if you’ve hiked for days.

If you are in Samoëns or Morzine in the Haute- Savoie, and you have a good day, you HAVE to go up La Bourgeoise! This viewpoint looks right over Samoëns and the Haute Giffre valley. Views are spectacular in all directions.
It is 12km up the mountain from Samoëns to the Col de Joux Plan - an easy trip for anyone In a car, but very hard graft for those cyclists one sees regularly pacing it out on the steep, and unremitting, climb.
From the car park it is an easy walk up to La Bourgeoise, 1770m, amply rewarded by the stunning view. Enjoy!
There is a restaurant by the car park (with one loo for patrons).

A 1.5 mile fairly easy walk from the Joux Plan Car park to the summit and what a view! Across to Mont Blanc, the Grand Massif and The Dent Blanche - 360 degree panorama. If you only have time for one walk in the valley this is the one for you to plan your return trip, hut hopping and peak bagging next time!

Went up to Plan de Lacs and then on to la Bourgeoise on a sunny day and had great views of the Mt Blanc, the mountains around and the valley below.
If you have two cars, it is worth leaving one on the drive up to Plan de Lacs, at the picnic tables at la Combetaz Rnes (or at Sur les Chables) and hike down from la Bourgeoise. It is a steep walk, but we did it with kids (4 to 9), it took about 2 hours with great views, lots of blueberry and raspberry bushes along the path, and you will have it all for yourselves, as most people return from la Bourgeoise to Plan de Lacs.
