Although this is a high resort it faces south so if you go late season expect slush as soon as the ice melts. January/February it's fine but avoid March/April. Les Deux Alpes on the other side of the valley is better late season. The lift...More

This is a small ski center where you feel very comfortable going with kids. The French ski school is amazing, and we chose every day to have lunch at "Chantebise" on top of the mountain. We stayed at Les Grandes Rousses, a fantastic boutique hotel....More

Alpe d'Huez has good slopes and lifts for beginners but also for more experienced riders. It is really an island in the sun! My favorite place for snowboarding with the whole family. Lots of bars/restaurants on the slopes.

So if we come back here again it'll be half term. There is a good variety of pistes here but well-spread. The legendary Sarenne "longest black in EU" is probably 10% black, 15% red and the rest blue with lots of boarder-prohibitive Flats. That said,...More

A lot of pistes, but scattered around. Last Mile towards the resort village is almost flat. A bit boring for better skier. Big crowds on weekends and a lot of beginner around pistes make it a bit hectic. Tunnel black run is not maintained at...More

Fantastic resort, so many runs for all abilities, I travelled late in the season but there was still plenty of snow. It's a beautiful location, views for miles around, and the opportunity to ski right to the bottom, it's quite surreal going from the top...More

We've been skiing for 30 years and traveled to most of the major Alps resorts in France and many others in Austria and Switzerland. The huge flat bowl at the bottom of the resorts has the most easy green runs we've ever seen. We had...More

I would agree with all the previous answers. Many of the lower slopes can be linked and increases the options but higher up there are fewer options. When there we struggled with very warm days making some slopes very poor... More
