This Cathedral has been here for many millenniums. There are Roman ruins mixed in with medieval architecture and latter day styles. The inside is very dark because of the lack of windows and it kind of gives it dark ago feel. It’s quite large and...More

Some of the foundations are built from Roman stones - reuse and recycle! Beautiful bell tower viewed from a distance, and the cloister is lovely and peaceful.

A lot of the cathedral dates from the 12th century, obviously with later additions, and feels very old and historic. It also feels like a 'living' cathedral and is very peaceful. Being a little way from the centre of the town and shops, it is...More

this is fairly small for a cathedral and seat of a bishop, but it was incredibly interesting to visit. Don't miss the remains of the cloister to the left side. I also recommend walking around the outside behind the church, you can see how they...More

Visiting this Cathedral is a spiritual as well as an historical journey, and I would recommend visiting after seeing both the Gallo-Roman remains and the mediaeval city. It's not mentioned in the guides, but there is a bas-relief sculpture at the west end of the...More

We were able to attend the Cathedrale for a Christmas concert, and as always the sound inside this old church was brilliant as the choir sang. The architecture is impressive, but the inside is plain so don't get your hopes up if you have your...More

Interesting Romanesque Cathedral in Vaison-la-Romaine. The Cathedral, which dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, is built on the ruins of a Roman temple, which you can see on the outside of the church near the altar.
