The Moulin and the history behind it captivated me, we drove for around 25 minutes from Beaucare to Fontvieille and it was a nice sightseeing drive for a sunday afternoon

It was interesting to visit this mill but nothing special if you've seen other, working mills. However, worth it if you want to get a sense of the history of the area.

It is a very nice walk up to the moulin. Don't hesitate to spend some time around to enjoy the nature.

A short walk out of Fontvieille brings you to this charming sight and a further walk will bring you to the other windmills nearby; well worth the stroll if you're into this sort of thing!

Of the four windmills, this was the most touristy. There were park rangers playing pokemon and other visitors getting in the way of photos. Nevertheless we wanted to complete the set and managed it before a very pleasant lunch in town.

A windmill just outside the town which is worth a visit if one is already in the town, but I would not go out of my way to see it. INteresting history of the windmill but really not anything exceptional. Underwhelming!

I have to admit that despite being a francophile and reasonably well read in European literature I had never heard of Daudet.
Its a nice walk from the town of Fontvielles but don't expect anything exciting

too sad is now close, i use to go there when i was young, after 10 years went back with my kids just to find out it has been close. i guess was too old and dangerous for tourist, but can still walk around the hill, the kids took picture of what ever was there.
the castle is also not accessible. nice vieux of the village from up there.
lots of memorie when back then use to see lot of tourist buses coming from Germany, china etc.., to visit

The mill that is supposed to have had a role in Daudet's work is situated close to the main road, so that it only requires a short walk from the spacious parking. As the path goes uphill quite steeply, I doubt that it is accessible for people with wheelchairs. The spot is pleasant, but the mill itself is nothing special. I have heard that this was just another wind mill (there are several around here) and the locals thought of a good way to attract visitors. This is possible, of course. But who knows? A little mystery is always value added.

This stone windmill is only of interest to people who enjoy the writer Daudet's work, we feel. Nothing special and it sits alone in the countryside. Not worth a detour.
